Festool updated Precisio saw?
« on: December 26, 2018, 02:27 PM »
Hallo everyone,

Everyday I am checking for good offers of the Mafell Erika EC or Festool Precisio CS 70 EB pull saws. Today all of a sudden I found a new type name and slightly different look of the Precisio. The new type name is CS 70 EBG.

It has some additional plastic parts, but I can’t figure out their purpose. Delivery date at the shops that list the saw is March 2019. Seems like Festool will slightly update the saw after many years.

So far I found no official news from Festool. Has anyone heard of it before?

As Peter already pointed out, the news is known here, but no details yet.

I sincerely doubt the updates on the CS saws are going to be groundbreaking.

But, knowing there's gonna be an update soon I'd wait for the updated model.

That said, I've got the current CS70 and though it has a few shortcommings  I like it very much, but I think if I'd ever be able to get a Mafell Erika 85 it'd be a real upgrade.

The CS 50 and CS 70 updates are in the 2019 Festool catalogues and are starting to appear online at webshops.

Today they have finally added the EBG version on the german website.

Not much info about the new features, however that doesn't really matter since they are barely an improvement.

I don't see any significant change in functionality.

Optional wheels are now standard, blade guard is now 2 pieces, and there are 2 black pieces of plastic on the legs that weren't there before. Extra stabilisers? But it's all just minor accessories.

The cord wrap/push stick holder has been improved so that now the miter fence stores on it. The plastic outriggers compensate for the narrowness of the wheelbase.

Changed, yes. Improved? Not sure. But I guess some people need it.

The plastic outriggers compensate for the narrowness of the wheelbase.

So you can put training wheels on it?

LOL - it's top heavy and prone to tipping when rolled - hence the outriggers. Unecessary in my opinion but there you go.

The wheels are only meant to move the saw for small distances, one or two meters forward or backward, not cart it all over the place.

Just saw the video with that new black cord wrap/ fence holder on the side, I sincerely doubt that thing is going to be popular. It kills mobility, you can't pick up the saw and hold it by the side, and it makes the saw wider so it's going to be trouble getting it through a narrow door and up the stairs. One bump and it's broken.

Might be usefull if you use the saw on a steady place, but then why go for this model which is supposed to be mobile? And it's just another container to catch saw dust.
