Does Festool make a wider hose that will fit the CT 15?
« on: September 27, 2021, 05:01 PM »
i think the one that comes with the unit is 27/32? it's not wide enough to pick up some larger debris (i use my CT 15 a bit like a Shop Vac).

thanks.

The coupling that goes to the extractor itself is the same on all of them, so any of the hoses will fit.
I have a straight 36mm hose for mine, when larger chips are being made. There is one even bigger, 50mm, you can also get larger nozzles for that hose.

Bosch makes a hose that is bigger and fits exactly. Unfortunately I don't know the item number. However, I do have one and will look to see if there is a number on it. Also I believe it 16' long.
If I get the Bosch number I'll post it here.

The hose is sold by HD supply. Item # 967406. Price $63.62
I don't know if there are other places to get it.

The Bosch product number for the hose is VAC005. Amazon also has it at a cheaper price.

thanks all. question, do i need to worry about clogging where the coupling meets the extractor? let's say i'm sucking up leaves and various detritus from my basement window wells...what should i expect? lol.

also, maybe i don't need a larger hose but the locking dust extractor connector is way too narrow for larger debris:

I have never had clogging at that point.

I use three Fein 50mm hoses and couplers to clean my deck and also to connect my cordless Metabo table saw and vac.

what types of debris are you picking up from your deck?

here's an example of what i want to suck up, but i also don't want to ruin the vac. lol.

I suck up everything that's not explosive or bites back. Nothing hurts the vac. 36 mm hose is best, never clogs. 27 mm hose clogs every 5 seconds.

you think that nasty stuff above should be able to be handled?

also is there any way to expand the "mouth" of the hose? or some type of attachment that makes it a bit wider? the hose without any attachment and just the end piece connected to the hose is just too narrow.

You mean actually stretch the hose end ? There are plenty of cleaning attachments available.

I think for leaves and larger debris just getting a relatively inexpensive 50mm or "2 1/2" hose (maybe with large diameter floor / cleaning nozzles) is the way to go.  Should suck that stuff up with no trouble at all.

I see a piece of concrete and some crickets. I would advice against sucking up both of those with any vac. Unless the crickets are a real pest or course. The piece of concrete seems to big to fit anyway.

But when it comes to dirt and debris, you can suck up anything with a Festool vac, no problem. Just get the bigger hose, and some cleaning attachments like the nozzles and the wand.

well the concrete isn't going anywhere lol - it's likely just the crickets and leaves, sticks and such. sure, i'd rather not vacuum them but frankly i hate bugs and want to clean that whole window well out and put a cover on top to stop the debris from gathering in there.

i'd use a regular shop vac but because my house had some lead paint i don't want to risk it.

thanks Seth. i do have a few attachments - mostly the typical crevice nozzle and flat floor nozzle both of which won't be ideal for this stuff. can you point me in the right direction for finding additional attachments that might work well?

none of the attachements on the Festool site seem like a solution.

What Alex says. I have a Protool branded tapered hose that is five meters long (for the followers in the four countries that have not gone metric… 16.404 foot) and that will handle anything you throw at at it als long as it will fit in the end someway.

You don't need to treat your Festool vac like it is delicate. I never understand why people sometimes think like that. It is a tool and meant to do the job, simple as that. I was cutting stone the other day to make windows. The stone saw worked with water and I had to suck that up again to prevent damage to the surrounding drywall inside. Worked like a charm with my Mini. Yeah, it got real dirty, but no harm done.

good stuff guys, appreciate all the insights!

let me ask, if i were to simply attach a Ridgid hose to the vac would that negate the HEPA rating?

in other words, is there something special with a Festool-branded hose that enables the machine to be fully HEPA sealed? or is the hose interchangeable?

I think it's important to point out that Alex's example of treating the CT ruggedly is with switching out to the sponge filter.  Your CT's HEPA rating is only due to the original HEPA filter cartridge only.  Puncturing that or switching out to a sponge negates the rating regardless of which hose you use.

i don't plan on touching the filter. i'm just curious if, by using a hose mfg by someone other than Festool (Ridgid, Bosch), i am negating the HEPA as well?

or is the hose not included/tested/rated anyway?

Well, I had to because I was sucking up water. With the dry filter in it you can suck up just as much bad stuff as you want, as long as it's not liquid. And using a vacuum bag with that, your vac itself stays a lot cleaner.

Timeout: this filter isn’t HEPA?!

https://www.festoolproducts.com/festool-204202-wet-filter-for-ct-mini-and-ct-midi-2019-models.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIifCfkrWn8wIVCorICh3HuQZTEAQYASABEgK9bPD_BwE

Wonderful! I recently scrubbed and wet mopped my garage floor that had old lead paint dust on it and used this filter in conjunction with the CT 15 to suck up the dirty water!!!

I've never heard of a HEPA rating for wet filters.

Why worry. Water is a filter by itself. I binds the dust particles like no man made filter does.

is that true with lead? i don't know. any rrp professionals here?

at any rate, back to the hose question. what would be the reason for buying the $100+ Festool branded hose in lieu of the $20 Ridgid one? especially for my situation?

thanks!

I use the 36mm hose on it with no issues. It's permanent attached to my Kapex.
