DF500 Accessories
« on: February 27, 2020, 03:32 PM »
Picked up a Domino yesterday, with the 'Assortment' systainer. Will be working along side my Mafell DD40P and Lamello Top21. Plunged about 60 mortises last night and was very, very happy. I think this will be my go-to for most things, freeing up the DD40 for shelf holes, hinge plates and various 32mm hardware and the Lamello for panel glue ups etc.
Any must have accessories that I should look at? I'm thinking the 'Trim Stop', anything else? The 'Support Bracket' that's included doesn't look the best, though I haven't actually used it yet.
Thanks for any info.

+1 on the TSO Bigfoot.  It greatly enhances the accuracy of vertical cuts.  The guys at TSO are amazing to work with as well.

Those with the Bigfoot, can you tell us more? I haven’t found a single review on YouTube or anywhere else. I have their plywood brace and that is awesome too. I would say it’s required if using dominos on plywood.

Check out the thread below, it has some reviews and photos of the BigFoot in action.

It gives you more support when holding it in either the vertical or horizontal position.

My Bigfoot is great at stabilizing the Domino. It’s far better than the Festool accessory.

@Rhino1789  - TSO pleads guilty as charged about the absence of Informational and instructional YouTube videos. What's worse: e have know this for quite some time.

We sincerely appreciate the customer reports, reviews on our website and feedback here on the FOG. It helps fellow woodworkers make informed decisions and it spurs us on to keep doing what we have become known for.

Our intentions are to start providing the needed visual information even though progress toward that goal has been agonizingly (for us) slow.

Keep encouragibng us or bugging us to finally "git'r done!"

Well I just ordered one, so I’ll find out soon enough how I like it.  Looking forward to it.

@Rhino1789 I didn't think I'd like the BigFoot as much as I do. Once you have it in your hands and do your first vertical plunge after using the Festool stabilizing foot you'll appreciate it.

Fills a need I've been complaining about for a long time - an easy way to attach a Domino to a jig.  This gives the Domino some real estate for clamping or screwing it in place.  I use a lot of jigs and fiddling with the two machined holes on the base and making some negative space for connectors on the bottom of a new jig is in PITA.

Only used mine for a few test cuts but so far I'm very pleased with it!

The BigFoot is amazing. TSO makes quality products and this one is no exception. I love using my BigFoot. The stability it adds allows you to plunge more accurately. I use it a lot for case work and the panels line up every time.

I have been on the fence as to purchasing one. I have the DF500 and 700. I think I read in here that it works with both.

If I do get one I'll post a video on YT.

Which reminds me I need to finish editing the video on the Rikon DVR motor upgrade to my 10-325 bandsaw. I was waiting on Rikon to send me the correct mounting bracket for my early model saw which they did. I need to get it out of the box and mounted then grab a few photos of it installed.

The TSO BigFoot support is much larger than the standard Festool accessory. It provides better "anchorage" due to being bigger.

Have been using my Big Foot for the past few weeks and love it. In fact, I haven't removed it since attaching it. Anyone know what the other two holes, behind the handle, are for?

@Lincoln  - and all you other folks who might have wondered about the pair of M6 tapped holes spaced 100mm o.c. behind the handle:

We added those to allow a point of attachment of some yet to be developed attachment or for customers to find their own use for these holes.

The dimensions and tolerances replicate what we already have in many of our products: GRS-16 Series, PTR-18 and MTR-18 Triangles as well as TPG Parallel Guide T-Tracks and the Clamping Angles.

We’re never done improving . . .
