I think the wait for the Festool tools in the US is also very unfortunate, it would be so great if we all could get on stream at the same time with new tools as the knowledge base would increase exponentially, it' seems there are so many creative people in the US that really stretch the capabilities of the tools and love to tell about it, so yes I have access to the new Festools sooner than the N.Americas but I'm not smug about it no no no...

I got these drawers with the intention of doing a review, as I had a couple of spare days at the time. Unfortunately something came up & I never got the review done. The drawers are still sitting in the boxes...

Now it's been announced that these will be available in the US on 1st December, I'm going to try and find an opportunity to do a full review before then. I've had a couple of PM's asking for more info too.

Johnny can you tell us the exact dimension of the drawers?  I don't believe what I see on the web sites.

The drawers sizes are spot on - 426mm wide x 373mm deep x 57 mm high. The SYSTAINER drops into an approximately 400mm x 300mm "hole". The manual is available online - https://www.festoolusa.com/media/pdf/706994_002_MonAnl_SYS-AZ_Auszug%20.pdf and contains details for building cabinets to house them.

Which measurement did you think was wrong? If it's the depth, it's probably because the 350mm slides extend beyond the outer dimensions of the plastic tray.

Thanks Garry, the sites here in the US that have them available for pre-sale state them as 396mm x 396mm.  I knew that had to be wrong.

What I dislike about the drawers, and also the metal sysports, is that the slides don't pull out far enough to fully have the lid of a systainer open.

To clarify what I mean is that the lid and or locking knob still "slam" for lack of a better word, against other systainers/sysport. It would've been nicer if they pulled out further for a few more cm so that doesn't happen.

I built a set of pull out drawers into two frames to provide quick access to my most used Festool products. I used 16" over-extension slides I bought from my local Rockler store.

The drawers pull out far enough to have the Systainer tops fully open and even back over 90 degrees so they stay open without me holding them.

I think the load rating on the slides was well over 50 pounds.

The whole thing is mud ugly, but inexpensive and very functional.

I still don't understand the issue you're having, Jonathan. My SYS-Ports work perfectly with either Classic or T-Loc Sytainers. I pull out the drawer, open the lid, and everything stays just as I opened it all day or, sometimes, for days.

I also commonly use a SYS-UNI for screws, etc. and though it's lid stays open fine, the hard plastic content lid won't stay open on its own. I don't consider it a big deal because while I'm fishing for screws, I seem to always have the other hand free if need be to hold that internal lid up.

Incidentally, I consider Antwerp one of the coolest places on Earth.
