Festool MW1000 Mobile Worshop - Video
« on: December 02, 2018, 09:16 AM »
Hi Everyone

Festool UK have kindly lent an MW1000 to me so that I could produce a video. I bought my MFT3 about 7 years ago and I wonder whether I might have bought the Mobile Workshop instead had it been available then !

Nice video Peter!  I concur that it will not be a solution for everyone but when you mentioned your thought about adding extra sliding drawers/trays that made me more intrigued for myself.

Good job!

Yes, a friend of mine bought one and he has added an extra drawer and it really works well.

Hi @RJNeal and @Mario Turcot

Many thanks chaps.

I am planning a follow up video showing it in use with some other Festool kit. I hope to do this early in the New Year.

I have been hit by the dreaded Norovirus and have been off my feet for a couple of days and so things in the latter part of 2018 are slipping.

Cheers.

Peter

Thanks Peter, I got a much better sense of the fit and build quality than from watching the other promo videos. Nice work. Also seeing the CT SYS with a couple of other systainers it made me realize it's not an "all-in-one" transportation solution.

Used it for the first day on site, pretty pleased so far - working in four different rooms and with less than optimal work space it allows me to "set up shop" quickly between the rooms and get out the way of the other fellas.

I do have another MW1000 table so I am thinking of bringing it out to expand the work table even further as some of the boards/pieces I process are around 300 to 450 cm.

I am making a sacrificial strip that fits over the long work table to allow for the HKC55 to operate without me strafing the landing area just yet. Haven't a scuff or a scratch on it yet. Gimme a few more days...
Festool:  CS 50EB precisio set, Domino DF500, DF XL 700, OFK500 edge router, OF1010 router EHL65 planer, CTL Mini/Midi Vac, CTL 26 vac MFT800+1080 tables
DSC-AG Grinder,  RAS 115
Rotex 150, ETS EC 150/5 RTS400
Drills: T18, BHC18, CXS.
SysLite KAL II, SYS Rock.
Sys- and Sortainers galore.

Line up has been reduced with the introduction of Mafell/Metabo tools. Red Green and Blue do mix well in the shop.

Hi Henrik

Things have been a bit hectic here for the last 6 weeks and I have been diverted from the video work. I want to take the MW1000 a stage further, probably into the realms that many clever people have envisaged already, and see how it performs as a cutting station with bench dogs and to see if there are any other expansion capabilities.

Right now I am doing my best to remodel the workshop (make it look a bit more attractive) as we will be moving this year.

I'm not sure why this hasn't been introduced in the US yet. I would buy one in a heartbeat. I sent an email to Festool USA but never got a reply. Jealous :-)

How stable is the MW1000 Extension table (203457) when attached to the CMS-GE, if anyone knows?  Festool says it's compatible, but note's that: "The connection with the CMS GE (freestanding version) may require clamping to make a stable connection.".  Not sure what/where you would clamp it to make it stable?
