Bought the entry level Festool vac. Almost bought the fein turbo II as it speced better. Then I read this : https://www.toolboxbuzz.com/head-to-head/best-dust-extractors-head-to-head/. I don’t need all the fancy bells and whistles. The ct 15 has the same power as the more expensive units. I does have a crappier hose though. It vacuumed up husky hair. Husky hair is very hard to vacuum from cars. [attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3]. My WAP aero 840a draws 8 Amps and the festool 9.5. I have a tool that inserts between plug and outlet and measures watts/ amps. I think it does well with the husky hair cause the hose is slightly smaller/ faster airflow. Plus it’s a dust extractor specializing in picking up light debris. I do want to save $130 so I can buy the anti static smooth hose. The blue tooth ,remote and hose storage don’t interest me as much . But I do like the better hose.

Congratulations 🎊. Welcome to the FOG.

Wish it had the hand brake. But a piece of oak worked . It easily cleaned up the mess on my deck caused by a 1 inch router bit[attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

Huh?
For me the local price difference between Midi and CT 15 is less than the cost of the 3,5m smooth AS hose.

In the USA the difference in USD between those two vacs is $240.00

Ah. And what does the hose (#204921) cost?
For me it's ~€320 for the CT-15, €400 for the CTL Midi I and €140 for the hose. So that made the decision pretty easy for me; skip the CT 15.
But CT costs in the USA have always been 'off'; your price difference between CTL 26 and 36 has been way way smaller for some reason. Over here the price difference is (/used to be) so big, pretty much nobody ever buys larger than a 26. I think I did a calculation before on this forum that resulted in achieving break-even after something like 120 bags in the CTL-26.
-
Ah. And what does the hose (#204921) cost?
The smooth AS hose is $130 USD.
The hose garage is an additional $59 USD.
-
Ah, so your price difference is almost two hoses while for me it's not even one hose.
Strange

I can get a hose garage on eBay . https://www.ebay.com/itm/Festool-204717-Hose-Garage-for-Bluetooth-CT-MINI-I-MIDI-I-CT-15-Dust-Extract-/115046244284?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 But are the fasteners that hold the top on really Bristol splines?

Vacuuming on my sloped driveway. My brake was a 1x4 piece of oak [attachimg=1]

and at Paul b Zimmerman hardware I paid $349. They didn’t increase price to the current $399. The midi was $640. So I saved $290

In the FWIW department, a customer actually turned me on to the fact that the CT15 can be upgraded with the CD Mini/Midi hose garage. Festool 204717 Hose Garage for Bluetooth CT MINI I / MIDI I / CT 15 Dust Extractors. I found it from a number of online dealers but it's a challenge to find it in EKATS. The going price I've seen is $59.00 so if you have a CT15 and want to stack T-Loc systainers on it, this is an option. I will verify on Monday when I take my Torx t-handles and fiddle with the store Midi and CT15. FWIW, the other differences are the anti-static hose, the bluetooth and manual cleaning filter. BTW, not specified directly but I personally like sitting on my Midi when my old bum gets tired....it rolls too..... ;D
-
... and the brake ...
I thought about that after I posted earlier, but didn't want to take the time to point it out since I figured it would come up eventually.
The differences between the 15 and MINI-I are actually pretty vast, but if you just need a good HEPA extractor, it's not a bad starting point at its old price.

I ordered the garage on eBay based on the part number from this video. I offered $40 and it was accepted . https://www.ebay.com/itm/Festool-204717-Hose-Garage-for-Bluetooth-CT-MINI-I-MIDI-I-CT-15-Dust-Extract-/115046244284?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0. Don't underestimate the usefulness of the blue tooth remote...I'll never purchase another vacuum without that feature. Once you have it you will be spoiled forever. Kind of like saying "Well I'd be ok taking a cold shower every day". [tongue]
-
"Don't underestimate the usefulness of the blue tooth remote"
Every time I press that little button, I am soooo glad I heard about it on FOG. Best value ever for a Festool item!
-
For those who don't like the dust that collects in the end of the bayonet hose on the tool (I'm among them), the bluetooth remote is a handy way to self-clean that bugger out when you disconnect the hose from the tool. I liked it so much on the MIDI-I that the BT module was one of my first accessory purchases for the CT-26 after it arrived. I'm only keeping my OG MINI for tool-activated use, sentimental value (my first ever Festool purchase), and because the switch and dial is more future-proof/fault-resistant.

I bought a green anti static hose 27mm 3.5m. Then I bought the y adapter Festool 452898 Hose Sleeve, Antistatic Y-Adapter With Blanking Plug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003KN3TPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_427YNSKJEMPBPC1GAJH4. And this hose: Festool 499196 Adapter Hose, Multi-Colour https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8A7LVC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BDCJNH11V083BWDQ4GJC. Festool told me I can open up my ct 15 and run y adapter with vacuum open if short hose from uk doesn’t fit. . I want to use the y and extra hose on my bench dog router table. Cabinet doesn’t have a dust port I want to make one. I could of saved $50 and went this route: Festool 488292 CMS Router Table Dust Extraction Hose Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001JBIYX4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_R7S1SWTRK6ZG2RY0BC9X?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1. But I kind like having the green smooth hose . Ribbed hose does catch on things. Why is the 27mm router table hose longer then the 36mm fence hose in Festool router table dust kit? I’m using 27mm for dust fence and cabinetry. I never clogged the WAP van which was 1 1/4 using it on the fence

Funny, the 488292 now shows up with green hoses on the Festool.nl website. That's an upgrade!
Anyway; it was originally designed for the Precisio CS 70. You can image if you put the dust extractor next to it... the 36mm hose goes underneath while the D27 hose has go to around a table extension and still allow for pulling the saw.
It seems it now also allows for rotation on the D27 hose end. It wasn't like that in the past. So there are now pics floating around of a set with black hoses, one with gray hoses and one with the green/black AS hoses.

Got my hose garage . Should of come standard. It that much more plastic. Had to use a t handie t25 to have enough reach for the deep screw recesses on garage. Not impressed with the thin hose garage plastic. 1010 router locks onto ct 15 with garage. Which is good cause I want the $100 hose kit /Systainer for it. So by buying the ct 15 at 349 vs the midi at 640 I saved $291 . I used that savings to buy a extra hose , a hose garage , a short hose, and a y adapter. Now the cabinet of my bench dog router table will have dust extraction. I’d rather have that then blue tooth. But there are moments now that I know Bluetooth exists it would have been nice[attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3][attachimg=4][attachimg=5]

Yes, you can.

Yes you can. But you have to 'hook' the Systainer's feet in. It's not just a vertical 'drop on and lock'.

Works but the little tabs work the other way. [attachimg=1]

Congratulations. Looks like you're all set now.

Festool y adapter works with lid open. You can close lid top with y adapter in( not with hose connected to y with lid shut. [attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

You could also try ordering this adapter. I’ve got two and use them for intended an various other tasks:

Since when is the gray hose anti-static? Or is the picture outdated?
From the Y-hose for the CS, there are 3 pictures;
Black hose, note different hose ends;
[attach=1]
Gray hose
[attach=2]
Black/green (AS?) hose;
[attach=3]
And I know for sure a hybrid of the first and 2nd pictures exist; gray hose and the hose-ends without free rotation that are pictured on the black hose.
-

The "connection coupling, anti-static D50/D50 VM-AS" is the coupler only, which is anti-static. The gray hose is still non-anti-static.

Drilled hole for bench dog table . The Festool hose fits but I used adapters as to not damage the mdf/laminate by removing and attaching hose. Must work on sealing cabinet / work on air flow to port. Doesn’t work to well. [attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

Hose to y works well[attachimg=1]

Hooked up with one hose and other end plugged. [attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

Hey was the angle of the Y changed? Now it looks closer to 3x120 degrees while in the past it was more like 60 degrees + 2x150 degrees
-

I think that's an optical illusion from the camera angle. Both of the Y adapters that I have look much more like 60 + 2x150, and are brand new.

Here’s a better view[attachimg=1]

Got the compact cleaner accessories kit. Like that the attachments are stored but it’s poorly executed. Need to really push lid down . They barely fit. As impressed as I was that the 1010 router is well thought out the cleaning kit was really just thrown together . [attachimg=1][attachimg=2]
-
Yeah the bottom foam is thicker compared to the same in Classic Systainer. I also don't get why all these sets are missing the brush.
Also if you mount it with the T... the handle will make the combo wider...
-
Only complaint is I wish the outlet on vacuum was more than 2 Amos. Even the bigger Festool are only 3.7 amps. My WAP vacuum outlet is 500 watts. That’s more than the Festools. I can’t plug my new rotex 90 into my ct 15. I could plug it into the WAP. Almost did that today but used a extension with 3 outlets . [attachimg=2][attachimg=1]
-
Snip.

Why not?
The Rotex is rated 400W while the DF500 420W. I use the CT15 with the Domino Joiner all the time (as well as with other tools like the belt sander, etc.).

Cause the technical specs say max 2 amps for onboard electrical outlet . [attachimg=1]

If my memory serves me right, some did have similar queries about the Kapex and CT26, CT 36 etc., and I do not recall anyone ever toasting their CT dust extractors using the Kapex. As far as I know. all Festool showrooms hook up their Kapex to a CT26, etc.
Frankly, if I couldn't use the CT15 with my DF500, I wouldn't have bought it.
Technical Data for CT 15 E HEPA Dust Extractor
Power consumption: 350 W-1,200 W
Max. appliance socket connected load: 2200 W

Here Festool
Addresses the label: https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/amp-draw-on-festool-dust-extractor-vacuum-outlet-65827/ But why out a 2 amp restriction in owned manual?

That's the difference between having 230V and being the odd one out using 110V... big waste of copper.

On a personal (not from Festool) , anecdotal note ............................... I run everything off the CT outlet. Including Kapex and OF2200.

The two Festool vendors I've been to have no shop vacs or extractors other than the CTs (of course!). They run everything (Festool products as well as non-Festool machines, e.g., 14" bandsaw) on the CTs in their showrooms as well as in their classes.
I'm not an electrician, but I feel totally comfortable of continuing to use my CT15 (since Feb. 2021) for sanders (Pro 5 Ltd), DF, Bosch plunge & trim routers and others. I run the Kapex EB on a Sears shop vac fitted with a dust deputy and auto switch (on a 15A (vac) & 20A (miter saw) circuits, in an effort to minimize the chances of a motor burn-out).

"When using a non Festool tools, please make sure your tool and CT Dust Collector combination does not exceed the amperage that is available from the wall receptacle."
I should be safe here as the CT15 as well as the Kapex is on a 20A circuit, which I added last summer. The CT15 and Kapex are never operated at the same time. I've added another 20A circuit for the SawStop and its overarm dust collection shop vac.

The only 220V circuit I have in my shop is for a garage heater. Knowing what I know now, I should've got a 220V 1.75HP SawStop rather than a 110V version. (Too much work now to convert it to a 220V saw.)

I do too, for the most part. I do however run my big Triton router that is in the table on a separate circuit when taking bigger cuts, especially in hardwood. I don't bother with that for normal rabbets, grooves, etc in ply, MDF or particle board, but I have seen (heard and felt) the draw and slow-down with hardwood, so I adjust for that.
