Hello,

I am trying to purchase a jigsaw that will consistently cut square cuts and I am considering either the Festool Barrel Grip Cordless Carvex Jigsaw or the Mafell P1cc Jigsaw.  Could you please share any experiences you have had with either of both of these jigsaws and any recommendations you would offer in terms of which machine I should purchase??

Thanks,

Mark

The Mafell of course, it's the only one than can do what you want. Festool jigsaws are nothing special.

Mafell. It's easier to use and more capable. When I reach for a jigsaw I don't want to fuss with a bunch of accessories or spend a lot of time setting it up.

Carveee.... only joking! The Mafell all day long. Unless cordless is a top priority, the P1 is a joy to use.

P1cc. The only thing I'm missing with it is LED light.

Mafell P1CC with out question.  With their CUnex W1 blade you are guaranteed square cuts even when you cut curves. I have tried Festool blades and Bosch blades. With those when you cut curves you may notice that it may not be a perfect square but even with those straight cuts are good. Rail guided straight cuts are perfect. But i prefer the MT55 or TS75 for those straight cuts.
With other Jigsaws the blade tends to get hot. With P1CC blade remains cool to warm. The body tends to get warm as it is a 900w motor, but the tool is rated for all day use.

If you need consistently square cuts choose the P1 cc. Using a Festool blade it will cut more squarely than either the Trion or the Carvex using the same blade. And this all happens without tweaking that bothersome saw blade guide because the Mafell doesn't have one.  [big grin]

You can also use the Mafell CUnex W1 wood blade which is actually 2 blades brazed together to give you a jigsaw blade that's 3 mm thick. That blade will just not bend under any circumstance.

The Mafell for sure if corded. My favorite jiggy and perfect cuts all day long. I get square cuts no matter what blade I use and it is so versatile to move the shoe to cut close to the front or to reverse the blade and cut in the opposite direction. DC is really good and it is super powerful. I do not miss a light as I do not use on on a jigsaw, but I know that is a feature lots of people like. Of, and the angled base actually lets you scribe from the top of the work vs. the Carvex's butterfly design better suited to cutting upside down.

BUT - if cordless is what you need, the Carvex has been good for me. Actually, my version cuts perfectly too. I used to have a corded version that I never was happy with. But the cordless version I have has been spot on and no complaints. I actually think the battery helps stabilize it some as it weighs a little more and it helps balance the tool. This results in smoother, more controlled cuts - at least in my experience.
