Title: VL Table with saw trouble.
Post by: chucklesuk on May 19, 2019, 05:40 PM
Hi All

I have the VL table extn for the MFT. The VL has a strip of plastic trim on the out feed side (L/H side looking from the front)   But when using the TS55 saw in my case with of course the table saw plate fitted timber (often Ply) will hit the plastic strip as its being fed through and stop. The timber has to be lifted a fraction of an inch to free it not something I like to do with a running saw. Also not something I would expect from a high class tool company.  I have removed the plastic strip so now the table edge is missing.
Has anyone had this problem? Or found a solution?

Tried calling Festool and eventually they put me in touch with the area rep who did phone me and promised to come and look but never showed up.  I'm not a happy bunny having spent a considerable amount of money on their products.   [mad]

Do you have a photo? I'm struggling to visualise which piece of plastic from your description.

I only have a single piece of light grey coloured plastic on the outfeed side that runs the entire width of the table. Is that what you mean? Mine is below the surface of the VL/insert plate...

@chucklesuk  On my VL that piece of trim is slightly under the rest of the top (just enough to move a fingernail along). Since you already took it off, you could check it for anomalies and perhaps repair it with a bit of sanding.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Y es thats the part in the photo.
I had the problem since day one though I must admit it difficult to actually to see a fault and sometimes I get away with it but it is dangerous and I would like to stay attached to my fingers.

As you suggest I will try some sanding. I didn't do anything at first in case it invalidated the guarantee.  Still very disappointed with the lack of Festool customer service.  I was hoping if others had the same trouble we could get Festool to do something about it.

Thanks again
