Tack saw track damaged
« on: August 23, 2021, 11:49 AM »
I was trying to use my track saw to cut out some stair stringers when the saw kicked back and jumped off the track.  When this happened the green sliding strips got damaged and I can't find a listed for some new ones.  Does anyone know how to order some replacements.  The aluminum track has some nicks but I smoothed them with a Dremel and I am replacing the splinter guard.

Are you safe/okay?  Were you able to figure out the cause of the kickback?

A google for the part number or for "Festool Glide Strips" should get a number of retailers, online and otherwise.  They come in 10 meter rolls, so unless you dinged up a FS/2 5000, you should have plenty to get through the job with leftovers.

I would recommend a full replacement, rather than piecing in a patch, to reduce the chance of catching the new strip when you use it.

I am feel the saw was not up to speed when I tried to plunge in and possibly just tried plunging in too fast.  Just to make everyone aware it was a festool track but a makita saw.  I needed a smaller 32" track to do my stringer project and the local woodcraft carries all Festool tracks in stock. Makitra tracks are not local fair and take a few days to a week to get.  I am done with the track saw usage till the exterior of the garage gets completed, then on to cabinet and shelf building.

Thank you for the part number, I didn't know what to call the "guide strips" when searching for them.
