CT 48 - loud banging sound every few seconds.

Hey guys. Got a CT 48. It makes a loud banging sound every few seconds. Thought it might be the auto clean but this is really loud and I wanted to ask others with the same device if they’ve experienced anything like this or how to reduce it.

That’s definitely the Auto Clean feature. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Any way to disable it? It’s quit disconcerting and loud. I could see my screwing up work. It also happens really often and it’s brand new…. Should it not be moreninfrequent, or as needed when it’s dirty?

The 36AC has a dial to adjust how frequent it pulses.  I would think the 48 does too.  I would also make sure to quote your model more precisely since they make a CT 48 and a CT 48 AC When you say your "CT 48" is making a sound its confusing if its not an AC model.  So if it is an AC model its normal and should have a dial to adjust frequency of pop.  If its not the AC model you have issues and probably need service.

The dial on the left, turn it to the left. That's AC on/off.

@DallasTower  In case your CT didn't come with one, here is the link to the Owner's Manual.  I would strongly encourage reading it to understand all of the features and functions of your CT 48 AC Dust Collector.

Im not even sure if that video link was there before.  Either way I didnt click it but dont remember seeing it before. No way to tell since the OP has been edited.  Doesn't really matter, either way Ct 48 should not be making a popping or banging sound while running and if its an AC model that's the obvious reason.  Wasnt trying to be smarty pants but if your asking about a problem with a particular model you should probably make sure you are giving the the correct model to start, it makes it easier for people to help is all.  Happy to try and help either way.

Thanks everyone for the support here. Good to find such an active community.

To address a few points so far -
1) yes, there was video from the start. Yes it shows the model. Yes I should have been more clear on the specific model in the post.
2) I am the first to agree with reading the manual. Mine didn’t come with one. I did however find that most of the manuals with the various Festool products have lacked luster, and that online resources provided the much appreciated insights we need. The best of which was the Festool Live I found for this specific device. It’s long, but it covered EVERYTHING in great detail.

Here’s that . The video does very clearly discuss the auto clean feature making the banging noise, and also states it is on or off on this model, and not something that the frequency can be adjusted on.
