PDC 18/4 problems
« on: September 20, 2022, 06:37 AM »
Hey all,

new to this Forum, but already celebrate its existence  [big grin]
I am having troubles with my - not overly used and 3 year old - PDC 18/4 and I think it is because of a lack of sealing...

The problem: It only turns leftwards since today after some driling

The reason: Did some drills in an old Viennese apartment building which is originally from somewhere between 1880 and 1920. That means the walls are thick (not too dense though), full of small stones, bricks, straw and very very dry dust. This is what causes the problem. As you can see in the pictures there is a reasonable amount of dust in the driller. Reasonably enough to settle on cable sleeves or any other kind of contact and to hinder energy flow?

Now "dealing with the sealing" (great album title bt.) is for a later stage. What I would need to know at the moment is how exactly to place the little shiny and magnetic cylinder (image) which supposedly works as a contact bridge when switching through the directions of the the machine.

Can anyone advise on this?

P.S.: It already starting mocking around a couple of weeks ago when it also turned only to the left or didnĀ“t work at all when pressing the trigger. The flashing red light indicated that the contacts might have to be cleaned. Which I did, after swapping battery packs thinking that might be the issue. After I removed some dust it worked again.

P.P.S.: They say a problem rarely comes alone. This is true as a the same time my washing machine and my Roccat Keyboard finished service
