Anybody have the overheating signal on a CT Midi?
« on: June 10, 2021, 05:15 PM »
Hi Folks,

I've been having a lot of instances in which the CT Midi I bought in January will stop and flash the orange LED overheating signal. I did have a hose plug at one point, but that was cleared out fairly quickly and the issues with the machine losing power and overheating are frequent. I'd love a resolution other than sending it back to Festool if that is possible. Any secret knowledge here? The bag is new and the filter is not clogged. I'm unsure what kind of diagnostics I can do other than check all the obvious potential faults....it's on a dedicated 20amp circuit so that's not an issue.

From what I found looking around on other sites, I'd recommend hitting the self-clean but also taking it apart to a certain point to see if it's still clogged somewhere or there's a loose wire internally.

Are you sanding superfine particles that may be getting past the bag and filter?

Nope, attached to my TS55 cutting 1/4" plywood.....however, I just turned it on with nothing attached and the air coming out of the outlet was fairly hot....I am thinking this is above my pay grade. I will talk to Festool USA tomorrow and probably initiate a repair. I'm not that comfortable going beyond changing the bag and insuring the obvious areas are not clogged....I had already tried the self cleaning....thanks for the response.....
