I was expecting more of a reaction to this promo. Some pretty nice freebies and the Systainer pack is a pretty sweet deal at 35% off normal prices. And who doesn't need more Systainers?  [tongue]

35% off on a product that's (probably) about to be discontinued (t-locks) doesn't excite me.   Kinda disengenious to call it a celebration in my view. Closeouts are typically priced at 50% off.

https://www.tanos.de/en/products/tanos_products/systainer3

Full price for the other gear with a free accessory ; is great for someone new in the market looking for one of these tools or for those looking to buy into the family for yen first time.  However, those early adopters that were there twenty years ago probably have a tracksaw, rotex and domino already and this promotion just isn't appealing enough for me to upgrade simply to a younger model.

Even the blue systainer isn't all that special anymore since it's only a sys2 and has been available a few times already as a ltd. edition.

Disappointed.

@xedos, what you thinking is about to be discontinued? Festool has announced no plans to discontinued any of these products.

Maybe not officially, but the writing is on the wall for the current boxes with the Systainer3 preview.

I'm not looking to stir up a controversy, but it would seem to me to be an "evolution" like when they migrated away from the classic to the t-loc. Sure they'll work together , but not seamlessly. So the faithful will end up replacing their current with the newer. And the current t-loc will effectively be "discontinued" like the classic was.

@xedos, I respectfully disagree.

Systainers are not going anywhere and aren't being discontinued. They are a major component of Festool's system approach and ecosystem.

Maybe @Festool USA will comment on this for us.

I think the resistance you're facing is that this is a pretty mature Festool ownership crowd and 75% of us already own a D500, TS 55, RO 150, OF 1400 and a Carvex. So a few extra bangles and a blue Systainer is just not enough fuel to push us over the line.  [smile]

Personally, I was looking at the Systainer promotion and would have pulled the pin if the Sys 1, Sys 2 and the Sys 3 were all blue in color.  That would help me ear mark certain Systainers for specific jobs. They are after all "standard issues" so to speak because they are being included with the Carvex (Sys 1), Domino (Sys 2) and it looks like the RO 150.

Thanks, @RKA. I'm familiar with the Systainer³. As many may know, we also sell Tanos Systainers. I reached out to Tanos USA many months ago and asked about the Systainer³. They said the Systainer³ is made specifically for vehicle use as referenced on the official Tanos website and will not be offered in the US in the foreseeable future. Even so, they are an addition to the T-LOC lineup, not a replacement. So, I truly wouldn't expect to see the current T-LOCs discontinued and replaced by these.

ETA: I almost mentioned the Systainer³ in my original response but figured that that wasn't the reason for the opinion that Systainers were being discontinued.

Thanks Shane! I for one am excited about this promotion and happily just ordered my first Domino. Right or wrong, good or bad, any sale (or free promotional item) at Festool is a welcome one, especially when the free promotional item is something that I was going to buy anyway.

Recently when Festool announced the discontinuation of the RAS 115, within a month of the initial announcement retailers like Tool Nut (and others) were allowed to drop the price from the regulated list price and the discounts offered were very significant (approximately 40%, I believe). I could not ever imagine a scenario where Festool would dare put on a Twentieth Anniversary sale promotion that was really a top secret liquidation sale for discontinued merchandise. I find @xedos ‘s remarks to be extremely disrespectful to @Shane Holland and personally I think he is owed an apology. This is an open forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion but Shane consistently goes out of his way for FOG participants and this kind of unsubstantiated conspiracy theory accusation is really uncalled for on a thread he started.

Would be nice if they would comment officially.  They didn't see fit to earlier this year.

https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-and-tanos-systainers/systainer3-available-from-september/

Typically they don't tip their hand - and who blames them.   They were mum up until the last minute on the domino index pin change, the classic to t-loc change, and most recently the cleantec fitting "upgrade".

I'm not as optimistic as Shane that this will be a companion line. The sizes are too similar and I seriously doubt they'll keep all the different SKU's for roughly the same product. They can't seem to be bothered to even keep a metric and inch SKU for a relative few tools now.  Or to even keep the old hose connector in production for those that still want them.  But they're going to keep producing two different lines of systainers ?  They don't still offer the clasic style for sale, why will this be any different ?

@xedos - You have concerns that make you uninterested in this sale. You believe that those concerns are justified by some past actions by Festool which may or may not relate to this sale. Do you understand how offensive it is for you to voice them in this way on a thread begun by @Shane Holland for the expressed purpose of promoting a sale that his company is trying to promote. There is a place and a time for everything and in my personal opinion this ain’t it!

If they are intended to be a true parallel family to t-lock, that's great news as I would say the new design hit with a thud (different heights, lack of side lables, front handle).  What Tanos showed did not imply this though, it implied them as replacement.  Keeping 2 very similar but different product lines isn't what companies tend to do.

If they are parallel lines, Tanos needs to get out there and make this clear as right now folks don't know what is going on with systainers, and confusion means folks stop buying.  It's not like they are cheap enough people will just panic buy a few hundred systainers and have them as they need them.

well, this is my opinion, but why would someone want these over normal one?  Oddball color that clashes with everything else and an ugly sticker.  It's bad enough when you buy a systainer from a particular online store *cough* and they have put their own sticker on the product you just bought, I don't know why someone would go out of their way to get something with more branding on it.

If as a 20th anniversary special Festool offered t-lock latches in the festool green so people could swap out the latch on their Tanos ones to match their festool branded cases so things match, I'm guessing you would see more interest.

Maybe if they celebrated by selling classic systainers for a bit, or metric tools again, that plug it cord kit that no longer exist, etc. Something to get folks remembering when Festool came here.  That would be more inline with celebrating and anniversary.

The deal on the systainers is good, but would be better if they were all the blue color. In a shop and trailer full of systainers, a few odd colored ones stick out! Any chance they would make that an option?

@Kevin C., I think what we see is what we're getting for this promotion. That's not to say that the other sizes might be offered in the blue in the future.

We do offer T-LOC latches in various colors, which are an easy way to color-code or customize your Systainers for quick identification.

Now that would be a celebration...an HKC with a metric scale as opposed to an HKC with an imperial scale but having metric indents which becomes the worst of all worlds. That very simple clairvoyance of thought would be worth celebrating.  [big grin] [big grin] [big grin]

@zapdafish,

We are receiving the Systainer pack pre-boxed as a kit from Festool USA. So, it would be time-consuming to swap components. So, no swapping unfortunately.

Not to kibbutz but this is not really much of an offer. Back in the early days they had $25 rebates per tool on at least one occasion. That would be far more worthy of a 20th year celebration promotion. Discounted stack of plastic...not so much. The giveaways with the tool purchases are reasonable though.

Personally, the Domino looks like a good deal.  I keep putting off buying one and this might get me to make the jump.  The extra cutters is a nice bonus.
The systainer stack is a good price - if you need all those and don't have enough already.

I only wish they had the 1010 instead of the 1400.  I already have the 1400, but not the 1010. :(

I think these deals are great for the guys starting out or wanting to fill in their collection.  Maybe not so much for all the veterans that have already spent all their money... lol

Bump.

The 6-Piece Systainer Pack is now shipping but inventory is getting low. If you want to save $199 on this kit, you may want to order it soon.

Also a reminder that all other Emerald Edition tools will ship in Monday, Oct. 21st, which is just a week away.

Thanks to everyone who already ordered from us!

Seems like nearly every other dealer is sold out of the Systainer pack too. I thought I could sit on that until xmas and there would still be availability based on how long the blue systainers have been around.  I planned on ordering from ToolNut but I did not heed the warning that availability was limited. No joke.. like 10 packs per dealer?

I've seen two dealers with some unknown availability but this is a ToolNut thread so i'll keep those names to myself.

@todd_fuller, I try to be careful about falsely claiming low inventory. So, if I urge folks to order quickly, it's a legit thing.  [wink]

No way of knowing exactly how many other dealers had. We had a decent number but I could tell that they were going to go quickly. Great value and limited item.
