New Woodcraft location - Iowa City, IA
« on: January 08, 2022, 09:33 PM »
No affiliation, I just got a mailer from Woodcraft that they're opening a new location in Iowa City, Iowa, and their first in Iowa, on MLK Jr. Day.

Coincidentally, it's in the exact same building where I previously spent gobs of time as a customer and as an employee and spent gobs and gobs (and gobs) of money: the old Gina's BMW location on Escort Lane.

I look forward to having a chance to visit there, and I'm hoping they have staff who are more knowledgeable and excited about Festool than my local Acme Tools store, where Festool is stuck in the back corner collecting rust and all of the staff steer people away from them because "it's nice, but nobody can afford that stuff".

It'll also be nice to have a shop within errands-distance that's actually dedicated to woodworking.

Well that's handy. We have had one here for many years, though it did move once a few years ago.
It is where I got started with expanding beyond the typical big box stores tool selecction.
There is also another, more commercial oriented, wood working store across town. It has a Rockler department on one end of the store. It used to be a free-standing independent store, but combined several years ago. That store is where my Festool diversion started.
I assume that this is a larger metro area though, so that likely plays into it.
I hope it works out for you.

also starting one up in Las Vegas. It just opened a month or so ago.

Our own Steve Bace (former LV Festool Traininer) is the manager of it.
