So I picked up one of these from Axminster Tools the other day, master edition - check. Second blade - not there.

I contacted festool who told me to speak with Axminster as 'we don't sell this item'.

They weren't able to tell me anything about the 'master edition' kit which I thought was strange! I've got no issue with going back to Axminster for this but I just thought it strange they couldn't tell me anything about their own product.

Festool customer for 24hrs and the famous customer service is well... disappointing!

Anyone else had a master edition with no second blade?

If the dealers are making their own package deals, Festool would have no reason to know about it.

The dealers aren't making their own package in this case.  Festool 577035 lists HW universal saw blade W28, HW fine-tooth saw blade WD42, splinter protection, viewing window, Allen key SW 5, Systainer SYS3 M 337 as the scope of delivery.

Assuming you're in the UK if you picked it up the other day, the error is on the part of Axminster for not delivering what's supposed to be there, and whoever you spoke with at Festool for their misunderstanding about a product offer.

In any case, you need to take it up with Axminster.  Why you expect the manufacturer to sort something out before you ask Axminster to give you what you paid them for is kind of beyond me.  Contact them and see what they have to offer/say about the situation.  It's probably little more than whoever packed your order or pulled it out from the store-room not double checking their pick-list.  It happens.  It's not Festool's fault.
