Festool End-User Training ? Participants Needed for Trial-Run

Course Description:
As a special ?test of concept? for future end-user training classes, Festool is looking for participants to take part in a special 2-day training event, covering the TS Plunge-cut saws, PS Jigsaws, CT Dust Extractors, Rotex sanders, Multifunction tables, Kapex Miter saw, and Domino Joiner as well as any other specially requested topics from participants.   This trial event is geared toward those users with at least a basic understanding of, and some experience using the Festool line.

This class will include some classroom discussion, though depending on the experience level of the class, we will try to spend most of the two days in the shop, actually using the tools.  Although future classes may be project-based, this trial event will be focused on product benefits and system techniques, so that participants leave with a better understanding of how to work faster, easier, and smarter using the Festool System.

Date and time:
Aug 31-Sep 1
Class begins at 8:30am and ends at 5pm both days.

Location:
Festoolusa Headquarters
400 N. Enterprise Blvd.
Lebanon, IN 46052

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Lebanon&state=IN&address=400+N.+Enterprise+Blvd&zipcode=46052

Selection Process:
If you are interested in participating, please go to the following link no later than this Thursday, August 13th, and provide a few details about yourself.

http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB229HR4H4JVU

We will notify selected participants (as well as a handful of alternates) by Monday of next week.  The one thing we ask of our participants is that you arrive on time and stick around for the full two days.  Since we?re not charging for the class, you will lose nothing if you ?no-show,? but it will mean that someone else misses out on a great opportunity.

Travel and Accommodations:
Participants are responsible for all travel and accommodations.  We will be glad to help you make hotel reservations at our preferred local establishment (Fairfield Inn).  And for those participants staying at the Fairfield Inn, Festool will arrive for pick-up on both days at 7:45am.

Festool will provide basic refreshments (bagels and coffee) in the morning at our HQ, and lunch will be provided both days.

Since some of the best conversations happen outside of the classroom, we?ll plan to cook out on Monday night at Festool HQ.  This should be fun.

We look forward to hearing from all of you, and hope to see 10 of you very soon.

Best regards,

Festool Training Team

Not too far from you...my Grandfather lived where you are.  Something in the water there, because he lived to be 105 years old.  He was something...he re-finished his deck when he was 100 years old, and caught a record size fish at 96.

I'm originally from PA...longevity runs in my family as well.  My grandparents lived to over 100.  My dad is in PA retired now and at 82 he has been in the woods the last couple days cutting down trees.  I hope I make it that long and stay in his shape.

Switched to my non-moderator account.

Funny...my grandfather was born in PA, then moved to Cleveland where my dad, brother, sister, and I were all born.  He was a store manager for A&P grocery chain.  He had that unique distinction of being the oldest person still getting a pension...he used to tell me that they wouldn't believe him when he would call in for something, and he would tell them he was born in '97...they would start to laugh...

You guys should give some thought to videotaping those sessions, then you could either post them to be viewed online or send those of us interested a DVD of it.  You could post or send a survey and commet form with it.  You could then leverage the knowledge and opinions of the whole group to fine tune the content.

Well the town I was born in was Spangler,PA... which merged with another town and no longer exits.  The church I was Baptized in is also gone from the map.  So I pretty much don't exist.  Which means maybe I can live forever since I'm not really here!  Might be tough collecting on social security though... lol

It is only an 850 mile drive for me. And yes - I will most likely go if offered the chance! I drive to northern Michigan on vacation at 1250 miles so this would be "easy"  :D .

I couldn't get off of work on those dates. Sadly if they was earlier in the year, i would of had all the time in the world, but I can't complain as it is nice to see things pick up again. Sign me up for next years class, and I will be sure to have those days off. ;D

Its great to see Festool explore this.   This is something I've been hoping would become available for quite a while now.

Quick question for the "Festool Training Team"...  ;D

Would there be a problem if I register myself and my two helpers?

As long as your helpers look like John's (Wood Shop Demos) there shouldn't be any issues.

They can register, but I suspect that the training department is looking for a good mix from different groups, so I probably wouldn't hold my breath. :-[

Survey submitted.
It's great that this is coming together and so close to home. Hope I get picked. Remind anyone of Willie Wonka? Nice motorcycle ride away, which might not work though. I'm not sure I can safely strap new systainers to the back of my bike.
I find this really interesting maybe in an odd way. Hilti, Dewalt and others have their "training' days from time to time at big Orange stores. I've always thought they were nothing more than sales pitches mildly disguised as training seminars. Especially, when the 21+ year old looks like he's never been on a jobsite. Hope that doesn't sound too critical it's not meant to be. I think its funny.
So leave it to the company that makes great tools to actually have a 'real' training seminar. Very nice opportunity. I wonder if this is also a step towards getting feedback about other tools to bring stateside.
Good luck to all.

First, thanks to all of you who have submitted your information to be considered for our End-User Training class.  We've gotten a very good response so far from a wide range of users, and I'm sure we'll put together a great class.

With respect to the survey/application, I want to be sure that everyone is hitting SUBMIT at the bottom of the page once they have answered all of the questions.  If you don't hit submit, none of the information will go through.  I just don't want anyone to miss out because of a missed click, and so far, I see at least a couple dozen "partials," meaning that people started the form and quit, or filled it out completely, and did not hit submit.

If you want, send me an email @ mwi@festoolusa.com, and I'll be glad to let you know if your information went through.

Best regards,

Michael Williams

Sorry about that.  We changed it from Wednesday to Thursday to give everyone an extra day to register, and of course forgot to change the date...

So yes, Thursday the 13th.

Thanks for the heads up.

Kudos to FestoolUSA in proceeding with hands-on training at their USA HQ!  I look forward to when they begin to offer basic overview courses and greater in depth project based courses.   Based on my experience as a participant in the April 2007 "fantasy camp" in Nevada, I am confident those chosen to attend this Indiana course will learn a lot, have an unforgettably great time, and make some new friends!  (No, I do not work for Festool.)

Friends, family and Festools make for a good retirement.  PCs...I'm not so sure.

I sent mine in.  Lebanon is only about 90 minutes from home.

Good news is, I am in charge and I think I could let myself have a couple days off.

Michael,

I don't know how many of us have applied for this event, but would it be possible to notify all who entered as to their status, either yea or nay.  I know I'll be waiting to hear, the sooner the better.

Thanks for this opportunity, Dan

Willie Wonka emailed, I have a golden ticket. If weather is good, I will ride from Chicago. Convoy, anyone else from the area? Sorry to those who got bad news, honestly. I don't tend to get lucky like this.

I was also one of the lucky ones!  I'll be going from Akron and plan to make a pit stop in Columbus to see my daughter coming and going.  Thanks to Festool for this opportunity!!!
