These prices are in line with massive multinationals, hundreds of times the size of Festool, that are large enough to spread smaller margins and manufacture in countries with low wages and minimal health, safety and environmental regulations.   I’m very impressed.

Wow the prices are amazing! The Drill kit prices are less Dollars than our UK prices in Pounds! And that’s after the notable dealer discount!

Examples:

TID18 & T18 kit:
US Price $549
UK Price £584  /  RRP £756

TID18 & PDC kit:
US Price $599
UK Price £723  /  RRP £928

There seems to be some slight variation in what comes with it, mostly that we still have the 3.1ah batteries in some kits.

It’s suddenly clear why the festool Impact took so long I think. Drills and impacts really are the key to getting people to buy your cordless tools, unless it’sa very specialised tool. Until now festool haven’t been able to persuade many people because of their expensive drills and no impact driver.
To make a sales pitch as big as the one they’re about to make in the US this July, I reckon  they’ve spent the last few years hammering the junk out of their impact driver to make absolutely sure the whole investment isn’t based around a weak link that will break them in repair costs.
They’ve mentioned toughness several times in the TID marketing material too.

there's nothing like the right tool for the job

Yes you guys are getting an absolute bargain.

I just paid almost as much in the UK for a body only Makita impact (not even their flagship model) as you guys are paying for the body only Festool impact and you get a systainer thrown in  [crying]

If our prices were the same in the UK I would be back on the Festool cordless platform.

The web page says, 'Bare Tool' for $199, but shows it with a Systainer.

Does it ship with a Systainer, @Shane Holland ?

Thanks!

Yes, sir, it comes with a Systainer for $199. Bare tool is our language for saying no batteries or charger. @neilc

@Shane Holland,

If I buy the basic, will my bateries for the C12/C18 work with this impact?

Hi -

If you're looking at more than one of these drills - it is worth your while to study the combinations, as the upcharge for the "plus" kits (which include two batteries and a charger) varies from product to product....

For example - T18+3 Easy plus bought with TID Basic would cost $498. Buying T18+3 Easy Basic and TID 18 Plus would cost $548 - and you get exactly the same products either way.

The T18+3 Plus kit is really the odd man out here, at $499. For $498, you could get the TID18 and the T18+3 Easy with two batteries and a charger. This is the best deal (I think).

Or, for $549 - you can get the T18+3 and the TID with two batteries and a charger.... but only one chuck between the two drills, and both in the SYS3 M 237. I don't really see the appeal of this kit. A second chuck will set you back $40-80, and both chucks that would come with either T18+3 kit would add $118 (total cost $667) which is more than buying the TID 18 plus kit and the T18+3 basic kit at $648 - which would come in two SYS3 M 187's.

Hopefully I got all the model numbers and prices correct... it isn't very intuitive to work out, and the nomenclature chosen sure doesn't help....

Cheers -

Rob

I just paid almost $200 for the XDT16/DTD171 in December and anything longer than a 50mm bit starts doing windmills.

The way I figured it is:

PDC combo = PDC Kit + impact driver for $50 (save $150)
T18 combo = T18 Kit + impact driver for $50  (save $150)
Impact driver kit = 2 batteries and charger + impact driver for $35 (save $165)

I’m not including the less 1 Systainer into the equation because the $7 insert that holds both a drill and an impact is priceless for onsite/mobile.  Empty Systainers keep going up in price, so I understand why others would look at that differently from a pure dollar value perspective.

The new $499 T18 plus does not come with the right angle and eccentric chuck.  You get the same rohm keyless chuck and centrotec chuck with the T18 basic, plus and impact combo.

In an odd twist, the PDC 18 basic (bare tool) now comes WITH the previously additional $100+
right angle chuck along with the rohm keyless and centrotec.  This is included with the Basic, Plus and Impact combo.

More confused than before?  [big grin]

EDIT:  Wait a minute.  Do the combination TID18 + T18/PDC18 kits not include a centrotec chuck and bit holder?  They are specifically absent from the photo mock up and from the description.  Festool usually has one of the two incorrect on their products, I know, but...both details leading to an absence..

The kit certainly doesn't make sense; why sell the regular T18 with only 1 chuck?  It doesn't highlight the benefit of the replaceable chucks or centrotec.  They would have been better off bundling the T18 easy with the TID 18 and then the price point would be just a bit more then the milwaukee drill/impact kit with 5AH batteries and packout case.  The milwaukee drill and impact are both unrefined so Festool would have a winner to convert people over to their brand.  Seems like a missed opportunity.

What happened to the T18/C18 kits will all the different chucks?  I was waiting for that kit with the updated 4.0 batteries

Just my luck I bought a TSC 55 Set as a pre-tax season motivation gift to myself for $860, haven't even turned in on and they go and "beat the price increase" by April 1st as i had intended by selling the same saw with an impact for $15 more?

Is the TSC 55 576816 any difference than the 575690 that i purchased?

Hi -

I think the only difference is that you got two chargers with the 575690.... and the 576816 appears to comes with one.... not 100% sure though.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the drills in the impact kits come with a centrotec chuck and bit holder? Also ran, the carvex and bhc bare tools are coming down in price a tiny bit in case nobody caught that yet.

@yetihunter it will not include a Centrotec chuck or bit holder. Nor will it be compatible with Centrotec chucks.

The TID 18 will be compatible with standard 1/4" hex bits like impact drivers from other brands. No special chuck or bit holder required.

Hi Shane,  Please clarify a few things about the new 576490 TID 18 and PDC 18 combo kit.

1.  ToolNut website description for the 576490 Combo has the kit coming with two new 4.0 Airstream Compact batteries.  While the picture shows one 4.0 and one 5.2 battery.  Which is correct?

2.  Does the PDC in the 576490 combo kit come with a Centrotec chuck and bit holder or just the Jacobs chuck and right angle adapter?  I understand that the impact is 1/4" hex, but I am asking about the PDC application only.

3. What happened to kits with Airstream batteries coming with the SCA 8 Fan-cooled charger?  It appears the TCL 6 is now what you receive.

Thanks,
Scott

@Scott in Bend, glad to answer your questions.

1) Good catch on the photo. The kit comes with two of the 4.0Ah HighPower batteries. Photo has been corrected from the original incorrect photo we were provided. Only saws will come with 5.2Ah moving forward.

2) A Centrotec chuck and bit holder are not provided (see comment below about pricing).

3) Obviously, we have no control over the scope of delivery for provided and Festool doesn't share the reasons for such changes, but I think it's safe to assume this was done to be able to lower the prices. Only the TSC 55 will come with the SCA 8 chargers included.

Ahh, thats good news, I've kind of avoided Festool drills upto now and part of the reason was the spazzy centrotec thing. Supposedly a better system but nobody local sells it.
The lack of an 18 volt rattle gun has been a massive gaping hole in Festools lineup as impact screwdrivers and drills are often the first tool someone buys.
During the Reagon era it would have been called a "Gateway Drug" and with the prices of the drills and lack of rattle guns Festool weren't getting people started on the Festool ladder.

Hello, FOG friends, some exciting news!

Festool USA has announced that the new Festool TID 18 Impact Driver will be coming to the U.S. marketing on July 1st starting at only $199, pre-order now!

I'm looking at the TID 18 + PSC420 EB combo... Toolnut has a very nice description of the overall contents but I'm wondering if you may have more info on the Sys-1 and how it's layout will be? What exact accessories?

Shane, are the combo kits unaffected by the July 1 prize increase? Your page doesn’t indicate any change in prize. That would basically make them a better deal compared to now. Thanks.
