Shane - in the photos on the Metric version, it looks like the nut drivers are imperial, not metric. Is that correct or is this just an incorrect photo?

@mschmidt10k, great question. According to FUSA, the metric version comes with 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" nut drivers. So, the image is correct that it includes imperial nut drivers.

@elfick, I can tell when zoomed into the photos that they are 12-point.

Where’s the dust collection port ... is it sold separately?

From what I found it’s 72 tooth. 5° Travel between and the angle of the head is 15°

nice to see they are offering both inch and metric ones here.

A comment though on the metric one, and this may be an issue for other metric countries, the 17, and 19mm wrench is for DIN bolts, not ISO bolts, which use 16 and 18mm.   That looks to be a real oversight.  Really such kits need all 16,17,18,19 because of this.

For both it would have been nice to see more POZI as those are hard to find in the US, yet usage of them has become more common. Festool just sent out the STM1800 which has POZI #1 on it, yet these come with POZI #2,  so yeah it would have been nice to see a #1 and #3 pozi in there as they are hard to find. Don't need the flats so much as everyone has those.

If they could have wedged in 2 more wrenches and 2 more screw drivers, this would have been much better.

You can get nice Pozi drivers from Wera in the US. But I don't recall using Pozi1 in my STM1800 assembly. I used a couple of wrenches, a socket, and a T10.

The Systainer and Felo screwdrivers look alright but man do those Chinese wrenches look sad.

The screws that hold the blocks of wood you didn't need to install are Pozi 1.  So someday, you will.

I need to look at the prices on all of this, my guess is you can probably just buy some nice bits and a systainer, and only be out the nice inserts.  The value is not having to do that and get a good useful mix of stuff that is used, harder to find and not have to kludge it together (comes with nice trays).  But if it doesn't do that well, it looses the point.  Like the Allen wrench set and the crescent wrench are silly. Everyone has cheap crescent wrenches around, and piles of the same Allen wrenches.  If they are screw driver handled Allen wrenches, they might be nice to have.  But as is, I suspect their isn't much value in this kit.

Never been faced with ANSI/ISO metric, but the Japanese love using 12mm instead of 13mm and 14mm instead of 17mm.   This of course means I’ve faced plenty of mish-mash Chinese manufactured  products with JIS and DIN bolts and all of them going into SAE Imperial threads, of course.  😂.

So you own a new Toyota Supra :)    makes one wonder what fun Japan/German compromises got baked in.

Not sure who makes the allen wrenches in this kit, but I can tell you that I absolutely love my Wiha Ergostar wrenches.

Not clear who makes them but McMaster has a variety of stainless hex keys in sets and individually in both square and ball end in L and T forms and 1/4” hex shank.

Wiha offers stainless hex keys.

As much as I like stainless though, I'd suggest you shy away from them unless there is a real need such as part of a tool kit on a boat. Stainless is soft and any continual, repetitive use would render them unserviceable in a short time.

@Arp166 our shipment from Festool is running a little late. We anticipate shipments should go out to customers today, tomorrow at the latest.

I’m having this continuous conversation with a friend who is constantly on my case about my Festool acquisition habits. The latest topic of our conversations is the Limited Edition Installation sets I just got. Because the sets are limited editions, and Festool focuses on making power tools, does anyone have an idea which company manufactured these hand tools? Given their high quality I’m assuming Wera or Whia, but that’s just a guess. No complaints though, they are nice sets and will be a permanent part of my workshop, just curious.

I believe that Festool indeed uses native brands when making FT branded hand tools.
Wera, Wiha and Felo is the brands that I have recognised that have been used.
