Has anyone found a bushing or other easy step down that would allow a 36 mm hose to be used with a 27 mm only tool (like most of the sanders and the Domino 500)? I have the 36 mm installed on my boom assembly and for those who don't have the boom, the hose clamps need to be opened up to install the hose; so the result of this combination is a semi-permanent hose installation. I would rather keep the 36 on the boom permanently if I can step down the diameter to 27 mm. I think it will be more versatile and have better dust collection.
Thanks.

Bob Marino, bobmarinosbesttools.com, sells a HOSE ADAPTER - 27MM TO 36MM, search for "HOSEADAPTER". It is a short 27mm hose with two male ends...one for the tool and one to insert into the 36mm male end. I keep one in my Carvex systainer so that I can use which ever hose is connected at the time.

I got this with my bosch jig saw. It's an adapper that will fit in a 36mm end and hook up to your tool. It will work with Festool tools

Also, Rockler sells a set of adapters/hose that is meant for tools with small ports. Festool and Fein are some of the brands that are listed, but I don't know if it will work for exactly what you are trying to do. Cost is $40 and it's possible that the smaller ports and hose might work for other hard to fit tools. Don't know but it's worth looking at.

Yes, found it when searching this forum and can be purchased here https://www.industrialvacs.com/Tool_Socket_connects_suction_hose_to_power_tool_p/h302000535.htm

Pretty sure he was talking about this one: LINK (http://www.bobmarinosbesttools.com/product.asp?pn=HOSEADAPTER)
Nice idea, but yea fifty bucks. Kinda wish it was a little shorter too. Think the Bosch might be the better option. Though the Bob Marino one could take the new Cleantec connector and the Bosch might be annoying since itll add a length of stiff tubing coming further off the tool.

None of these adapters makes for an elegant or ideal solution.
What's really needed is a hose end that goes from 35/36mm hose to a 27mm tool end. Bosch and Metabo have this on their larger hoses.

Festool also makes one. Downside is you turn your 36 mm hose permanently into a 27 mm hose.

Tried to find it on US site; maybe NAINA which I find 'interesting' given 36mm hoses are sold in NA and a reducer might be preferable for some Festools.

@Alex
Do you have a part number ? What you speak of is not available in N. America.
Even so, it'd be no more permanent than any other hose end of theirs. Press in the two tabs and swap out the end. For me that's better than the added length and stiffness these adapters add to the setup.
@Untidy Shop - you link the Nilfisk type adapter that was mentioned by andy already , which is very similar to the Bosch that T. shows in his pic.
These are available in N.A. but aren't as good as a dedicated and rotating hose end that takes 36mm to 27mm tools.
Ideal no. But if one is going to use a 36mm hose on 27mm port would the "best" solution be a factory rotating end ? Clearly enough people want to use this type setup shown by the myriad of "adapters" on the market.
If we're buying into the Festool as a "better mousetrap " - shouldn't it be better ?

This is one that I have ..... used it a couple times. Has a tight fit.

Seth, I've got one of those too.
I'm wondering if Alex has found the holy grail though - an OEM , 36-27mm end with a swivel cuff that attaches to the hose directly.

Yes, probably NAINA.
I had to google around a bit to find it again. I had it bookmarked on Festool's website, but guess what, with the new update it is not even on the website anymore. Festool's new website is simply horrible, seems like they don't want to sell you tools anymore.
Here it is on a Dutch dealer website (http://www.nonpaintstore.nl/en/festool-online/stofzuigen-1/accessoires-voor-mobiele-stofafzuiger-ct-en-afzuigapparatuur-sr-1/aansluitmof-1/festool-498528-festool-verloopmof-rm-d36-27-as.html)

I certainly wouldn't call it a holy grail, seems a bit useless to me to have the bulk of a 36 mm hose with a 27 mm end. Unless the 36 mm hose is all you have and don't want to invest in a separate 27 mm hose.

I cut thread off from 36 mm end. Now normal 36 mm hose end fits inside it perfectly.
This modification was on FOG some time ago.

edit: hopefully this is same part...

OK here is the rotating 27/36mm adapter. I am quoting the Australian Festool site because it as yet has not been 'interfered with' by Festool IT. So despite some faults, things are still relatively easy to find. The part number is 499907.

That's not it.
The part VesaS shows is the same as in my link above.

@Alex
During this thread, I have provided details of the only two 27/36 adapters available down here. Here is the full list of connectors available in Aust. If other 27/36 adapters can be found on the European and NA Festool sites so be it. [eek]

I think that will work. I ended up cobbling together one part from Bosch and one part from Fein. The result works to my satisfaction.
