I got into Festool a couple months ago when I got a lead shop job making products for high end homes and needed to install the products on site. I consigned my shop tools to buy the Festool. Still developing this system, but it’s working out pretty well. I also use it in the shop to make cross cuts, sanding, etc.. Same as everybody. But, it packs up and transports well. My fence gains a few inches over the Festool fence and is much easier to set up, for me anyway. Hopefully the designers and builders will be impressed. If there’s any interest I can draw up plans. There’s a preview of an overhead milling kind of thing I’m not done with.

@Mgildersleeve brilliant, lots of custom jigs and fixtures, well done.

Can you do another video please so we can see the hardware used to slide into the T slots and the locking thingy on your MFT fence where you screw the 2 knobs down onto the MFT surface securing the fence, if that makes sense?

Really liking this one, please continue to develop your ideas and share them.

Very nice. Makes a great portable or semi-fixed work station. Wish I had room in my small basement shop for something like this. Maybe I can incorporate some of your excellent ideas and jigs though.

Question on the drop-down saw shelf. Did you consider making it so the shelf is to the inside under the MFT top and not protruding out front? I have been positioning the Systainer for my TSC55 under the MFT and using the top as a place to park my saw between cuts, but you shelf would be a better choice.

Very nice...my favorites are the recessed panel that ties the LH cabinet to the MFT, the rifle laser, the rail height shim for the router and the adjustable surface heights for the LH & RH cabinets.

Wouldn't it be simpler to have a pointer on the router attachment and a measuring tape attached directly to the guide rail? It's hard to read a bright red spot several mm in diameter.

Wow, you've got some great ideas and designs! I like the way you lock the systainers into the drawers. That's an idea that can also be used to make a DIY Sys-Cart.

Very nicely done!!!! The folding saw shelf is slick. The carts are a nice take on a systainer only sysport. Seems to me the open drawers would be very handy!

A very functional and creative system. I'd love to see plans.
I'm going to be moving to a new place where I'll need to take down the MFT and accessories when not in use, so something like this would be terrific for me.

Here’s some detail pics of a self centering, expanding dowel and a guide rail clamping stop. I keep forgetting to take a picture of the fence.

Hello there,

what a bunch of great ideas!

I don't understand the expanding dowel, though. (which is obviously entirely down to me)

If you turn the knob, then why does the bolt move downwards, rather than just twist within the dowel, without actually moving down (or back up again)? Also, can't you overtighten them, after which they can't be removed from the MFT any longer?

Jim,

At first the bolts would spin a lot more than they do now. Each one is different. If one won’t stop spinning and I need to tighten it more, then I just use a screwdriver to hold it place while I tighten.

As far as being over tightened, yes, they often stay wedged when I loosen the knob, but then you just push down on the knob and it pushes the bolt free.
