TKS 80 Table saw + Incra positioner
« on: April 15, 2023, 10:58 AM »
Hi All,

First post here so please be kind :)

So much about my TKS 80 bugs me (especially the sticking fence) except of course the saw stop tech so I have set about doing something about it. Yes I know its a job site saw but that's not what I want it for in my workshop :)

I was already using an Incra positioner + wonder fence on my stand alone router table so I thought it would make a great fence for the TKS 80. I am using the INCRA TS-LS Joinery System XL 1320mm (Metric) with the INCRA Large Saw Conversion.

I will post progress as I make it here (this will be a slow build I am afraid). Eventually this will all be a raising / lowering wooden workbench frame.

Best
Chris

I get your reasoning for building now. I think I read somewhere that tablesaws are not sold in Europe/UK. Any truth to that?

:) Plenty of options over here but if you want saw stop tech there are (I think) only 2 choices.

1. The festool TKS 80
2. A very expensive and very large Felder that would never fit in my workshop unfortunately here.

My problem is that I am most definitely a beginner and want to keep all my fingers hence these choices.

Small update. Bench now working really well with the t-track installed.

Also thought I would include a photo of the Festool wall :)

Chris,

I have the Viking DP like yours with the Deluxe WP table system that includes the drawer. I need to take the drawer assy off to increase available room under the drill bit. You mind sharing a couple of photos from under the DP table that shows how you attached WP table such that the wings are still extendable (assuming they are)? It looks like I will need to make some sort of spacer to allow room for the table extension hardware, correct?

Thanks
Jack

Here you go.

You can see I removed the drawer and needed 2 pieces of black MDF to make this work. The bottom layer holts the bolts, the top layer attaches/screws to the large table.

That Incra table looks like a worthwhile upgrade if you’re not concerned about portability. The first thing that struck me about the TKS80 is how wiggly the built in stand makes it. Would drive me mental was the one sitting in my shop.

Agreed on the wobbly legs. The incra legs I have at both end help quite a bit but ultimately I am fitting raising and lowering legs to a movable wooden frame that I will build that the saw and top will sit on.
