Title: MFT parts help pls
Post by: johnredl on July 25, 2020, 09:37 AM
I too, like thousands of others in this forum am making a MFT. However I’m looking at attaching with HD hinges to the long side of my 150kg Bluegum traditional woodworking bench. The proposed lift up, folds down leaf will be about 1550 x 800. I’ve had it machined on a CNC with 20mm holes at 96mm centres (pretty sure it’s 96mm, can’t quite remember) out of 18mm MDF.

I was thinking of some 80/20 around the outside with maybe 2 support pieces at about 500 intervals underneath. I was thinking of sitting the MDF on top of the 80/20. Also 2 legs on the side not secured to the bench that will fold up when the bench is not being used.

So... where have others bought 80/20 from in Australia (I’m in Adelaide)? I’d like to make it as compatible with standard Festool parts as possible, and would like to build it properly. Also, where can I get help designing it so I only have to buy the parts once!

I already have 2x1400 tracks for my TS75, bit don’t have any other bench hardware.

Thanks in advance

Check out Dashboard PWS or right angle design on YouTube or the FOG. His cross cut set up is the best!

Add my name to the list of Dashboard fans. Patiently (well, trying to be) waiting for mine. Really well thought out. Excited to receive mine when the time comes.

Rob is a very hard working innovative guy who has developed and refined some things people here should really appreciate.

Follow the link above to find out more but keep in mind it’s forbidden to discuss his worktable here in the FOG as it’s directly competitive (superior in my mind) to the mothership’s product.

Thanks for the info everyone but I’m actually after info on where others have bought their 80/20 from. I’m definitely building it myself as I’ve already have a piece of MDF that’s been CNC cut to the size I need.

But thanks anyway
