Installing counter bolts with the domino
« on: July 19, 2008, 02:10 AM »
This isn't a jig, or an invention, or an enhancement. You don't have to do anything fancy besides clamp a piece of wood on. But it's a killer app for an already great tool.

I installed two counter bolts last week, and I had been using the domino to throw a few big tenons to register the edges of two pieces of a bartop. I drilled the two end holes for the counter bolts with a 35mm zobo bit, and used the domino to cut the center channel for the bolt by clamping a straight chunk of wood 10mm from the centerline. Of course the domino chopped a clean edged trench at exactly the correct depth in well under a minute. I was very pleased with the clean result. Much faster than setting up a router jig.

this is the begining of a new stage in the use of the domino

we are getting beyond using it the way it was designed

this is one idea, there are other people making jigs for it as well

thats what this forum is about, exchange of ideas
