Interesting concept. Take the timber to the Domino rather than the other way

Anyway bought/made one of these and how well do they work for small pieces?

I build the Ramon version from the plans he sells on his web site, see Domino Dock for XL700.    I use it frequently.   It turns the Domino into a stationary tool.   I use it with the Seneca Dock Plate XL and TSO Big Foot.

It great for smaller pieces of wood and Dock Plate XL stops, excellent repeatability.

I never thought about adding the big foot, but I’ve never done the horizontal cut.  Will definitely keep it in mind.

Wouldn't the base support included in the Domino kit do the same job and provide the same support as the Big Foot.
I have the Seneca Domiplate which i really like and trying to work out whether the Big Foot would provide any additional functionality.

Anybody got both? Why?

In my view the Festool supplied base support isn't big enough, nor can you clamp to it.    The handle on the Big Foot is nice when using the Domino vertically.   

I don't have a Domiplate.

The examples given in your pictures are not small components. Any particular reason why those long pieces were not cut in the typical way, with the work clamped on the bench and the XL brought to the work (using the trim stop and/or pins for registration and repeatability)?

The examples given in your pictures are not small components. Any particular reason why those long pieces were not cut in the typical way, with the work clamped on the bench and the XL brought to the work (using the trim stop and/or pins for registration and repeatability)?

I think Bob was answering my question showing the use of the dock with narrow stock. He probably shouldn't have said small components but as they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

I'm still trying to work out whether the Big Foot has anything extra to offer over my existing Domiplate but I can't see it.

The Big Foot (which I don't own), as I understand it, is useful when the machine is used to make mortises vertically freehand (e.g., in the absence of a batten or fence to register against). While the handle of the machine can be used, the user won't be able to see/align the scribed line on the baseplate though.

Thanks Chuck, that's what I thought. I'll stick with the Domiplate which I love.
