NEW CT MINI 1 how to questions ad a comment or 2.
« on: May 21, 2021, 05:15 PM »
Just received a new CT Mini 1- Too my surprise it is not MINI compared to my old MIDI - kind of a disappointment as I was going for more carrying capacity in my truck. Add the cord "rack" on this thing and it is actually about 4" bigger than the old MIDI, though about 1-1/2" less tall.

OH well - it does seem like a very nice upgrade in many respects - just not a space saver.

BUT BUT - the question of the thread - I attached the hose into the body and I can no longer remove it. Somehow it is locked in.  [unsure] I saw as I was setting it up, a gray push pad area on the side of the connector part of the hose. Thinking that I push on that and it would release the hose from the body. I can't make that happen. Is this really a one time connection?

2nd question - That "dedusting" paddle - is that intended to always be in the up position? I'm concerned, as it sticks out past the body of the unit - not too much but enough that it will likely be the first thing to break off, sticking out proud as it does.

Same reason I will not likely use the cord rack. If I'm careful, cord and vac hose all fit nicely in the  caddy. Would fit better, with less long term bending stress on the hose if I could disconnect it.

Looking forward to its first trial but for now I have these basic questions I'm hoping someone will be able to answer for me.

Thanks much.

The "grey thing" is an RFID tag. It allows the M-class CT vacs to detect which hose is plugged into them. It does not have any mechanical function. The connection of the hose to the vac is purely friction.

When it is new it may "stick", just use a bit of force - try to rotate the hose end while you are pulling it out.

Ref size, if you have no use for the garage, you can consider ordering the "flat" top parts from the garage-less CT15 through a dealer and have them replaced. Same with the filter cleaning tab.

But you gonna lose your warranty that way ... so probably a no-go.

Another option is to return the Mini, get a CT15 instead, get the bottom part from the Mini for it to make it even smaller.

Or lastly, get the CT 15, swap the bottoms /will need to swap the bottom stand too/, resell the Mini as a "Mini with Midi bag/bottom" etc. No easy way if you -need- a true mini Mini but possible.

You loose the Bluetooth with the CT15, so refitting the top from a CT15 would be my preferred option and selling on the CT15 "with a garage" for original cost mostly.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm OK with keeping the MINI will simply leave the cord holder off.

I actually like the garage with the lid and it's plenty big to properly store hose and cord.

The "filter cleaning tab", what the manual call de-dusting, does that remain in the up position or is intended to have a down position?

IF the former  - Note to FESTOOL - you should make that so that it does not stick out proud of the vac body. That is just a target when loading tools in and around. I'll be careful but...

The "de-dusting" lever is to clean the filter by a temporary reverse flow of air.

You start the vac and then press it a couple times. It will help "stuck" dust to fall to the bottom of the bag so the filter performance is renewed.
