How to adjust right 45 pset thats off BUT NOT change the left 45 thats perfect?

How to adjust right 45° preset thats off BUT NOT change the left 45° preset thats perfect?
I've deduced the right 45° has been used enough on a 12 year old Kapex 120 to throw it off.
The left 45° preset is perfect.

I've looked and looked in both manuals and online.
Maybe I'm not using the correct search criteria.

Any help wold be appreciated.

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe the fence is bent? Put a straight edge across it. If there has been a very hard kick back at some point it could have bent it. Also go through all the adjustments and recheck everything. Give it a tune up in other words. That's good to do on older tools to get them back in spec.  Good luck!

Thanks heaps.
Been there done that.

The 90° from both sides were perfect.
The left 45° is perfect.

I need to adjust the right 45°.

I found on the Makita LS1216 the preset were cut from a turret and not able to adjust.
I can't tell from the Kapex 120 parts list if the turret is the same nor adjustable.

Don't know if this will help or not.

The ring that has the detents in can me moved slightly in and out as well as side to side. When I got my Kapex this needed moving on mine as two 45 degree cuts did not make 90. Yours might need moving slightly in or out just on one side. It is a very fiddly job and you can spend ages trying to get it right once you start messing with it.

This might not be your problem but it sorted mine and it was something that I only saw mentioned I think on here, wasn't in any manuals etc.

Do you recall if the right preset was a completely different from the left preset?

I don't want to risk messing up the left preset.

Mine was cutting exactly the same angle at both sides when set to 45 degrees but together they didn't make 90, it was less, I had to push the  detent ring back slightly which reduces the angle of the cut. I did make it worse before it got better and ended up spending ages messing with it but eventually got it dialled in and it has been fine ever since.

At least on my Kapex, the angle detents are all on the same metal semi circle, so it seems like it would not be possible to adjust the right without also changing the left, unless you want to try to file out some of the holes, though as the last comment suggests, maybe by pushing one side in or out (as opposed to rotating), you might be able to effectively just adjust the angle on one side.

Yes.

You have to adjust the scale back and forth untill you have a 90 formed by the two 45 cuts.

Then you adjust the scale left or right until you get the two 45s correct.

Yeah wish someone had a proper how to vid for step by step procedures.

Don't want to mess with the perfect 90 and the perfect left 45

Then just try moving the side that is wrong back and forth. There may be enough adjustment to fix your problem and it won't affect the other two settings.

Yes, it is possible to adjust the left and right 45° and the 0° independently of each other.  The trick is that the segment can be moved not only in rotation with the table, but also inwards and outwards at each end.

To proceed, loosen the centre and right side screws on the mitre scale plate which will allow the plate to swivel inwards or outwards on the still tight left screw.  DO NOT loosen all three screws or you'll be starting again and doing a full calibration!

If the right 45° is over (ie. the preset position is more than 45°) pull the plate outwards, if it's under push the plate inwards towards the centre of the table.  Tighten the right most screw, recheck the blade angles, and make further adjustments as necessary until it's correct.

Adjusting the ends in this manner does have a very small effect on the 0° setting, so if you need to make large adjustments on the 45° positions you may find that the 0° goes slightly out. To reset the zero position, lock the mitre lock at zero BEFORE you loosen all three screws, then tap the table gently to a precise measured zero.  Lock up the outer screws and recheck all angles, you will likely need to touch up the 45°'s after resetting the zero.
