New ETS EC 150/5 EQ to an old school Festool hose?
« on: June 24, 2022, 10:45 AM »
I have a new ETS EC 150/5 EQ that I just received.

I want to use my old school Festool hose that I use with my older equipment.

Here’s a photo of the hose end and my two sanders, old vs new.  (BTW, there’s sleeve I put on that hose a few years back.)

What do folks do to connect the newer ETS EC 150/5 EQ to the older style hose?  Is there an adapter or do you just shove it on like the old style?

Just shove it over.  You can upgrade just the hose connector if you want.  Some complain about the old hose fitting leaving sawdust on the new fitting when removed.  I do understand that the new hose is more flexible but I have mine all set up like yours and they work just fine.
It's The FOG!  Just rotate the screen.

Yup. As @Samo said, just push/wiggle it on. The newer rubber fitting has the option of allowing a more positive connection, but the old fitting will work just fine with your new sander.

As others have said, just shove it on!

I'm using my SR5E dusty from the 80's with my ETS EC no issue, so I can't imagine any of the later Festool hoses being a problem to connect!

This is what Samo was referring to. A new bayonet style end vs older ribbed end and when both sanders are used with the older hose end.

Unless you're careful, if you quickly remove the hose, the white drywall dust will land on the black rug.  [smile]  You can see some of it on the sander housing and that was being careful.

@Cheese , if you have one, next time try hitting the Bluetooth button as you remove the hose end, and you may find like I did that it does a pretty good job of keeping that plaster dust off of places it shouldn't go.  It sometimes even cleans off most of the bayonet. :)
