I stumbled on this link and was puzzled/amazed. How is this done?
Amazing bath tub (http://www.trendir.com/archives/001246.html)
I suppose a Domino is not enough =)

Looks like veneer laminated over a form. The outer lamination looks like slices of pie. It is layed up over a male form, more layers are put on with waterproof glue then sucked down (clamped)with a vacuum bag. It's called "cold molding".
You could do it by stack laminating solid wood (then you could use the Domino for alignment)but you would need some pretty big clamps. Or find a really big tree and have at it with a chainsaw. ;D

Cool looking bikes!

Made by yachtmakers..... definitely veneer over a form. I'd bet money they lay it up exactly like a boat hull. Paint with epoxy resin and polish. I like those bikes. I love the bamboo bikes too, ever seen them?

eli, here's a link to Calfee's bamboo bicycles (http://www.calfeedesign.com/bamboo.htm).
And rough plans for a bamboo bike trailer (http://www.carryfreedom.com/bamboo.html), although not nearly as gorgeous as the Calfee bikes. In that same realm, the bamboo bike project (http://duck-rabbit.ldeo.columbia.edu/bamboo/Home.html) is about building bamboo bikes for places where incomes won't support a couple of thousand bucks for a frame.
