Help installing new hood on Mini CT dust collector
« on: March 02, 2023, 02:51 PM »
I have a CT Mini HEPA 120V R dust collector (499596). I'm trying to install a new hood (500118) on it. The hood is attached to the housing (499906) with four long cheesehead screws (474911) which pass through the housing and into four holes in the hood.

I tried test fitting the end of the cheesehead screws into the new hood, and found that there's no threading inside the hood's holes. Since the threading on the screws is so aggressive I'm wondering if I'm supposed to install them and have them cut their own path into the walls of the hood's holes. But I'm cautious because that seems like an unusual approach.

Does anyone have any experience of installing this part?

I can't get image attachments to work, so I've uploaded pictures here https://imgur.com/a/2NXX2eZ

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

This is for a MIDI, but the entire upper section is the same as the MINI:

Ahhh, so from that I'm getting the idea the screws don't even need to screw into the hood. Okay. I have to order some new screws (because some got bent when the hood originally broke), and when they arrive I'll try putting it together and report back here.

Thanks so much. This lets me move forwards.
