My uninformed guess is a Cordless Planex drywall sander.

Same thought crossed my mind. But then I saw the guy was carrying a corded extractor - so unless it's a particularly poorly imagined marketing image then likely not a cordless product.

Must be something to do with the color of his shoelaces :-)

I think it is a double wide T-loc systainer that holds
2 regular systainers inside

Everyone always hopes the answer is a puppy, so I'm going to go with a wiener dog to show off the new form factor ability, the old ones could only carry pugs.

Because of the unfinished drywall scenario I would guess some kind of Planex, now new in a systainer.

Probably the most likely scenario... I suspect Festool’s definition of a ‘new tool’ is probably a little different to mine.

I don’t think the corded extractor in shot completely rules out a cordless tool, given that Festool have been adding Bluetooth to their extractors and batteries recently, but if it’s a Planex I don’t see much benefit to going cordless as it’s the type of tool that will never be used without extraction.

It’s the battery pack for that cordless CT26 he’s carrying....

That is the most obvious answer (they probably want to get rid of the old classic maxi container), but it's not the fun answer.

This would be the fun answer but produced in Yellow Green RAL 6018.

No, for when the GC has to remove the architect from the wall cavity the masons put the architect in after he proposed changes after the wall was built.

If it's a cordless Planex, I hope to god it doesn't have custom batteries like they developed for the sanders, and instead are just using the normal 18V ones.

Good grief folks. The systainer pictured is a new size offering, that's it. Nothing inside, just an empty oversized systainer. It was thoroughly discussed elsewhere on the FOG many months ago. The forum's search function is your friend.

I think you may have misunderstood the Festool teasers. The XXL systainer is already in the shops over here - that’s not the ‘new tool’ that Festool are talking about. The new tool is what’s inside, as they explicitly state in the teaser adverts.

Take a look at the second teaser I posted.

Sometimes we just wanna have fun hypothesizing what could be in the box even if it doesn't make sense. Let us have some fun... <goes and sulks admiring his only SysMaxi tool (BS-75) wondering what else he could get>  [tongue]

I mean, I’m 99% certain this is about a Planex that has been tweaked just enough that Festool can pretend it’s new but not enough for us to actually find it interesting when it’s announced. But it’s definitely about the contents of the box, not the box itself.

So it's not the new autonomous robotic self-propelled, self-guided sander then?
Pity, I was looking forward to that.

The Planex 225 already has a Systainer solution (photo below) - it doesn't need such a big one as the XXL either. I use an XXL to house all my jigs, including MFS700,400 & 200.

An inside source has let slip what's in the box. Pricing should be around the $400 / £450 mark and a release date of Q3.

It also explains the extractor in the photos to pick up the sharpenings  :)

I gotta have one of those FT pencil sharpeners. Are they on eKat and what is the part number? :-)

The second teaser has a metal bit showing that seems like it could be a Planex extension to me.
