Scoring blades are slightly wider than the main ones on the sliders to cater for the different blade thicknesses among brands/wobble, and to prevent all possible chip-outs on the downward cutting. So in practice, scoring blades and cutting blades are not the same width.

Thanks for that...now that makes sense.  [smile]

And as far as grinding the diamond coated blade to the proper width, it all depends upon the diamond coating thickness. I can't imagine though that the coating is very thick, maybe .010" to .015"?

The whole point of the shim adjustability is that it can (needs to) be adjusted for every blade change. We go through this regularly on the Laguna, though not as often as we used to. There are only a few of us who actually use it and even fewer who use the scoring function.
I try to get as close as I possibly can, without getting chipping, which depends on the main blade too. It takes a few test cuts, but not that big of a deal.

Videos just dropped for the various locales that'll have it soon.

UK shown for quick view, although each country Festool has their own lang video.  The RSC18 video was also put up at the same time.

Around the 11-second mark in the video you can see the cut from the scoring blade.

I'd need to see it in action and how well that edge bands with the Conturo. Looks more noticeable than the Mafell. Although does cut both sides cleanly in its favor.

I don't understand the panic.
I cut melamine particleboard sheets using my TSC 55KEB fitted with the laminate blade and have very little chip-out (if any).
I don't need the depth of cut of the TSV 60 nor the additional cost which, knowing Festool, would be hefty.
Come on everybody, get real.
