This sort of thing is not really becoming of a premier brand. The rise of the 'influencer' is disappointing.

As with most people's expectations, I expected new tools. Not tools that have been announced, and are already available in other countries. I mean all you have to do is visit the various country-specific Festool sites.

I haven't bothered watching the live replay (I never watch live due to timezone plus there is a lot of fluff I skip) and won't be based on the comments.

It might not have been intentional but it was really a "Festool USA" new tool event, not a "Festool" new tool event.

Now, where are the CXS18 and cordless Rotex...

The only thing any 'influencer' has ever influenced me to do is to turn off the computer.

Snip.I mean all you have to do is visit the various country-specific Festool sites.Snip.
...and after I did that, I found out that the KSC 60 isn't for me (even if its asking price was lower) because:

a) It doesn't use the hold-down clamp
b) Its bevel control is not the precision kind on the Kapex 120
c) Its dust deflector doesn't look as good as the boot on the KS120.

(Those are three of the most important features of the KS 120 that set it apart from the rest of the miter saws in the market.)

One good thing about the KSC 60? The LED spot light (shadow lines).

Sadly, I was hoping for a 7/16" socket for the socket set... too much?!

P.S., what's Cheese's IG? I _need_ to follow influencers...

Right there with you!
I might even settle for something a simple as an explanation? or acknowledgement?

Apparently I m the influencer? Last Saturday, the two guys who are quitting to go work for themselves went to the local dealer and bought nearly 8K worth of Festool equipment, based on my recommendation and their observations of how I use them.

Well there Mr. Influencer...if you truly are the USA Influencer of choice and can command a God like authority over the rest of the Festool minions, then...a 7/16" socket will be so within your domain that you will take care of that minor amount of hubris by tomorrow.  [smile]

Paul will be happy, you will be happy and I'll probably purchase one of these bastardized socket sets from my local Woodcraft store. Everyday is just a winner on the FOG.

I have been using the KSC60 for couple months since release in UK.
Absolutely love it. It uses the rail clamps to hold down material, front and back both sides options.
Accuracy just as good as its big bro KS120.
I too was concerned about its accuracy but no issues.
I use it for kitchen fitting and it's a joy to work with, much easier to handle and carry around. Only ever use KS120 for high fancy cornice, but that's not in vogue at the moment.

In general, that would get you a blow-molded tray, but these kits do indeed have a foam liner.  ::)

I could only hope to have that kind of influence.   [blink]

I can't seem to get a Bessey sponsor either.... [huh]

No TS 60 yet.

An NBC News article this morning covers a story about Instagram removing photos from some sex worker accounts, and one adult star is said to have 3.7 mn followers. What an influencer! [tongue] Or may I say men are easily influenced?

They only started shipping the CSC in Europe.  Since the Spring lineup is already out on all the pages, I guess we'll have to wait til Fall/Winter for the NA release dates for the TS60 and CSC50.

We need to re-title this thread as the continuous running joke thread.

Kidding aside, no I haven't seen anymore about the TS60 or CSC.
I have really been looking forward to it. I want to get my hands on one before making my decision on an upgrade. I'm at least going to the thinner bladed model of the TS55, but if the TS60 can indeed be the every day go-to saw, I might go with it instead.
The TS75 is great, but not an "every cut" saw for me.

I had initially written-off the CSC as un-necessary for me, but it may just be what I need for home-shop use after I retire. I am mostly track saw, and don't own a table saw, because of access to several at work.
I won't have a huge volume need at retirement, but it would be nice to have one, since the home space is so small.

I see what ou guys were talking about in the Festool Recharged video. It's poorly thought out, like you would really want to be just in the background like that? Then they throw that logo over it and you can't see most of it anyway?
I have it on in while I'm surfing here, just playing for nothing really. I'm curious about some of those so-called influencers though? Eric, from Spencely Design (youtube) is there. He has very little Festool stuff. Why is he invited? Sam from DIY Huntress (youtube) is there, even got introduced by name. I don't recll her having any Festool equipment? Why is she there?
Michael Alm does have some, and a Shaper Origin, I get that one.
Jason Bent is a regular and lives so close, easy choice.
There were others that I recognize, but come on.

You can be sure we'll see some of those influencers suddenly sporting Festool gear.  Is the law different in the UK?  I know there, they got the CSC50 into the hands of an influencer for a few weeks to get their opinion for their live show, but readily took it back - they have to buy it themselves later.  US influencers seem less trustworthy by comparison.

Yeah, I saw the 10 Minute Workshop video. He seemed to like it, at least initially.
I don't really know how the demo-model thing works, but they always get the new stuff first, sometimes we never get some of it. Some of the laws are different. They don't have the regulated price structure, like we do here. Some countries anyway.
I get a T-shirt once in a while from my local dealer, because they can. I have dropped a serious amount of money in there over the years.

I never really questioned the influencer selection. To me it wasn't supposed to be about the influencers... in theory. I felt there was a bit too much influencer talk and not enough tool talk. Also there was so much there we could see but we not allowed to know about. Speaking of tools, Someone mentioned a cordless Rotex?????? Thats the one tool I haven't seen evidence about and one tool that would almost be a game changer in cordless. Are We talking a ROC 90, ROC 125, or a ROC 150? I think a 150 is unlikely for the first cordless Rotex. The 90 would do well in cordless but I feel like it isn't quite as popular as the 125 or the 150. We already have a cordless 125 mm sander and a ROC 125 just makes the most sense for the first Rotex in my opinion. Also does anyone kno if the high power 8ah is coming to North America? I would be surprised if it wasn't coming.

I just do see the Rotex as a cordless tool. They are already a big heavy thing, adding a battery would make it worse and screw up the balance. Not only that, there has to be quite a draw on a battery to spin all of the gearing that makes one function. It couldn't possibly run very long.
A saw might see some load from the cut, but takes very little to spin freely, plus it is working with gravity. The Rotex has that internal drivetrain friction, then adding a 150mm piece of abrasive, to add to the load? Doing this to an RO90? It would look like a TV from the 1950s, this huge housing for a tiny working surface.
Then you still have the extraction hose. If you have the hose, a cord is a non-issue. There is no bag or internal fan to make that system work. To add them, changes things in a major way.

From all the Instagram content from Festool and the influencers today, it seems like they were showing off the new tools (recip saw, scoring track saw, tsx 18v, etc) but not to the stream.

Whomever is in charge of running their marketing in the US sucks at their job.  Festool in various countries dropped their youtube marketing videos this week showcasing the new tools.  Festool USA instead posts a Build-Off recap of a video that never existed (because non-trendy plebs that don't use instagram are irrelevant).  US/NA seems to be targeting hipsters with excess disposable income over trades is what the marketing message is hinting at now.

Or they figure they already have the trades attention/business and that their best opportunity to grow sales is to expand into the "hipsters with excess disposable income" cohort.

Full disclosure, I didn't watch any of the media being discussed, just been following the debate with interest.
