This is really cool. Need it for the 150. Don’t want to buy new paper.

Just curious - can that battery be used in any other Festool products?

Edit: Duh! It's the filter?

Did I read that correctly that it is an add-on for the ETS 125 REQ and ETSC 125.   That is, it is not a new sander.

It's unique to the 3 sanders.  However, there's also an accessory/kitpriced AC adapter that can be fitted as an alternative.

Edit2: Double duh!  [crying] It is a battery...  Sorry guys - it's early in the morning & just 'glanced' at the video - thought it was a completely new sander - perhaps I should just go back to bed!

I hope it is, as I will definitely pick one up for use with my ETS125.

Of course it is an attachment for one of the few sanders I do not have already. Lucky me.

Exactly my thoughts. I have the R090, RO150 and ETS-EC 150. Why on earth this isn't compatible with the ETS-EC - their flagship sander - I do not know.

Hopefully we can get specifics soon. I would prefer not to have to buy another sander.

Zero interest in this from Festool however it's got me intrigued as an add-on adapter for my cordless Dewalt RO. Sanding edges is an area that needs improvement in the shop.

@Richard/RMW

Richard I’m interested in your ideas on a DIY adaptation of this. Please keep us informed.

At the least you’d need some sort of clamping system to keep the sander attached and something to raise it up a bit to hit a sweet spot on the pad. Then something to slide along the workpiece.

I can live without it being adjustable as far the angle. 90 degrees would be ok.

Thanks

Ron

Ron I'm going to take a whack at this. There's an Ender 3 moseying this way and I promised myself I'd take on some shop jiggy stuff to justify it. Seems like this is a good place to start.

Stay tuned.

And risk compatibility issues!  It needs to be modified to work in the N.American market. Needs to be redesigned for 110VAC/60hz, add safety stickers, warning stickers, converted to inches so it works on 5" sanders.

Just not worth the risk   :P

I'll take the risk... [poke]... I've been searching for an exporter today but it's obviously too new of an option as all the usual wells are dry.  [crying]
I was going to off load my Pro 5 but this now becomes a game changer. I'd just park this attachment on the Pro 5 and go forth.

I could have used it yesterday as I cut some mahogany at a 15º angle and needed to sand the angled surface which I did and then after a closer look, there was a slight radiusing done to the edge, not a deal breaker but still an annoyance. I like edges to be crisp and sharp.

At least it's something that should show up in time so if smuggling doesn't work out, you will get it in time.  I've been looking for some German festool again, ugh, such a pain. At least festool saves me money thru their actions, all the stuff I would have bought if they just made it easy.

I'll give you an amen on that and throw in an extra hallelujah. [big grin]  I'd think that after all these years Festool would be tired of continuously running themselves through the "Spanking Machine". But yet...they persist, must be part of the German work ethic.  [eek]

My guess is that they want it to work with the cordless options and so that means it also works with that same form factor in the corded sander.

One I'll consider. Looking at Festool's international website, it looks like you can buy the positioning aid separately (Part # 205316) coming in September, if it's not available in the US/NA. Fits the ETS-125.

To be more accurate as an edge sander, I think it also needs some sort of depth-adjustable parallel fence fitted ('a la their Router range), otherwise it's likely to produce a wavy/waney edge with a perfect 90 degree bisecting angle with injudicious use.

A standard, old-school orbital sander carefully held at a perpendicular incidence angle will gently help to maintain edge straightness.  Rotary sanders are often too aggressive to do so unless used with the finest grits.
