Does any know what the opening dimensions of an sys 3 M tool box are with the handle folded down?  I've looked but can't find the info.

 @Agent 73

This is not correct if you want the actual opening at the top as opposed to the amount of length and width down inside the box.

I do not have one to measure but I have had my hands on one. The top opening is  about   25mm less on each long side and 15mm less on each short side / width.  In other words  about  246mm wide x  366 long.  If the handle is folded you will lose  about another 25mm on one long side and another 25mm on half of each short side.  Leaving an opening of  about  221mm  x  311mm (on half, 366mm on other half).

Those numbers are guestimates. If you look at a picture you can see that the opening has a thick rim around it and then the handle folds inside the rim.

Seth should know.  Have you seen what he has done with those Systainers?

I have one. With the handle folded down, the opening is about 188x356 mm at the front, and 300mm wide under the handle. The handle is about 30mm in the area where you would grip it.

Hello, I will list the specs from festool notice the difference in the LxWxH measurements. that multiplied then divided by 1000000 gives the volume in liters.that number is 27.7l.thats the prism rectangle, note the volume listed by festool is 21.4l my caculation equals 21.3l.These numbers are on festool website,my numbers are minus 25mm.guy I did say rough.Sorry for not being 100 percent  but festool does not answer.Ha I forgot to minus the other 25 on the other sides.sorry guy

Thanks for measuring.  Looks like the rim and handle eat up a little more than I had guessed.

So with the handle folded down 188 x 356 on one side and 188 x 300 on the other?

With the handle folded down, the long dimension of the opening will be different (bigger on one side smaller on the other), roughly split along the center line.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think we need a drawing to sort out terms and measurements.

And these come in two different heights 137 and 237. Those are the exterior heights with the handle folded down. Same as the Sys gen3   137, 237. And two different long dimensions --- standard foot print  M , Midi foot print  L.

     Sys3 Toolbox 137 M

    Sys3 Toolbox 237 M

They should just already release the technical drawing. What are they afraid of? That someone copies it?

Of just about anything I can download CAD files; electrical conduit, junction boxes, hinges, vacuum cilinders, piping, wiring, ventilation boxes, bearings, axles, nuts, bolts, etc. etc. .... but the Systainer...  [huh] [huh] [huh]

I can look at Euroboxes from different suppliers and get the technical drawers. I can figure out if something I want to make fits in a Eurobox... but for a Systainer? No clue... spent hours or adapt design to fit in competing box where drawings or CAD model is available...

This is good to know.  Unfortunately it looks like it will be too small for what I was hoping to use if for.  The folding handle is nice but it also takes away needed space.

There is a Sys3 large version too, which is 20 in/508mm wide.

I’ve not used mine very much so far, but the folding handle seemed to be a nice improvement over the previous one, since it allows me to have another Systainer above it in a stack.

I'm not sure I understand; how does staying on TLoc affect moving to a Sys3 Toolbox, or vice/versa?  The TLoc Toolbox was only capable of mating with a TLoc-generation ToolBox or TLoc-generation Storage Box on top of it because of the fixed handle and the weird mid-field flippy locks, but was capable of sitting atop a TLoc or OG systainer under it.

The Sys3 Toolbox should mate up with a standard TLoc under it or on top of it, or with an OG Flippy-Lock systainer under it.  So the same as a TLoc-gen Systainer plus more?

He may be referring to my reference of the sys3 Large box? Not sure.

The Sys3 M toolbox stacks fine over or under my older Sys boxes, which is why I bought it in preference to the older non-folding handle T-lock box. I don't know how the stacking works out with the Sys3 Large stuff.

If by large you mean the 'L'  (Midi size) Sys3 units ...........................  they work above and below both 'M' and 'L' Sys3 as well as T-Locs. There are two sets of feet and two sets of pockets so that both sizes can connect.
