Classic Systainer adapter to SYS-Cart RB
« on: May 27, 2021, 10:51 AM »
I've heard from a few customers of the complaint that the now a couple year old SYS-Cart RB style cart doesn't work with Classic Systainers.  There was an abrupt switch when Tanos introduced this new cart.

The idea of a making an adapter plate for the SYS-Cart RB has been on my list, but not a high priority.  Has anyone in the community created something is willing to share their design?  Or perhaps be a resource and make a few I could sell in my shop, or I could point customers to and buy from you?

Make it a great day - Sys Tim

Huh? That rolley fits the classic Systainer just fine?? It's the new one released with the Sys3 that is breaking compatibility.

The new one released, just before the Systainer3s actually, is the SYS-Cart RB or just SYS-RB.  I've seen it both ways in Tanos catalogs.  So I'm referring to this one.

The one before that is SYS-Cart.

Here's a thread showing the differences for those playing along on the sidelines:

https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-and-tanos-systainers/new-'improved'-sys-rb-(sys-cart)/

Tim, I'm not sure how easy it would be to make the adapter, but perhaps someone has.  It seems like it's easier with the T-Loc to create a channel and a catch to lock a T-Loc systainer onto something, but the nature of the Classic is a little different because of the multiple latches.

I missed out on the opportunity to buy an older model recently, I should try to track another one down to look at it more closely.  It may not be as hard as I'm making it seem...

Tim / @Systainer.Store , I'm thinking a combination of this:

https://www.stlfinder.com/model/slidable-systainer-holder-tanos-festool-yvADzRwS/2252200/

with these:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/207060461/diy-systainer-cleats-festool-tanos-t-loc

would get a workable solution.

I have no association with either group.

My vision is be the Etsy cleats on the underside of a piece of plywood with the latch piece on front, and the stlfinder items screwed on top to hold the classic Systainer.

I was thinking about getting one of these

That would definitely work!

Doesn't look like it's available outside of UK or AU, unfortunately for those in North America.

For that matter, the Makita MakPak cart is the old Tanos cart in Makita colors.  Doesn't look like that's available in North America, either. :(

Ohhhh - I like this line of thinking, both on sourcing another type of cart, and on the 3D printing side of things.  I didn't know of the other types of carts.  Cool!

If I could make the right contacts to source and sell the cart, I would be willing to look at that.  It is the more professional finish.
The 3D printing I like too, just I need to get my operation (3D printer, CNC machine) set back up since my recent home move.  (easier to prototype at home than the warehouse).

I have 3 or 4 of the Hikoki carts, they work well and are much cheaper than the festool/Tanos.
