Where to get just a T-loc?
« on: May 20, 2021, 02:14 AM »
Accidentally pulled my CT26 and attached VA-20 into an open subfloor. Despite a hefty fall, the only thing that broke was the T-loc on the CT that held the VA-20 on top. Can they be purchased separately?

Yes, it is a standard spare part.

You need to ask your dealer to order it for you. They may have it in stock but not usual.

This is who I've been using for Systainer related stuff including moving my non-Festool tools into Systainers. They have the T-loc handles in multiple colors even.

I agree with these posters; Tim at Systainer.store ( @Systainer.Store ) has been good to me for the things that I've needed.  He's a member on here, too, like many of the vendors.

Thank you for the shout out!

Yes, I have T-Loc catches/latches and handles.  I'm starting to stock SYS3 catches and latches too.
I'm hoping to keep stock of T-Loc parts for some time, though I know a couple items are sold out right now.
There are even some classic parts too!

The one T-Loc catch color I'd like to be able to sell is Festool, since I'm a Tanos dealer I've not been able to source this.  Maybe there are Festool dealers who stock that color?  Or would be willing to sell me some so I can stock it?

Have a look at the items here:  https://systainer.store/collections/latches-and-handles

I think one good thing is that the Sys3 latches are backwards-compatible with the T-Loc, and work better for the T-Loc if you stack a Sys3 above them.

For those of us popping Makita gear into Systainers, is Sky Blue the closest in color to Makita Blue?  I'd love to swap out a latch or two to use as a visual aid.

Which blue is Tanos' stock blue color, Sapphire or Signal?

Thanks, Tim!

Hi Tim - If you can wait until the weekend (I’m stupid-busy on a kitchen job) - I have a few Makita machines, plus Tanos Systainers in both shades of blue. I’ll pull them off the van and take some photos so you can see and compare. I also have one Makita machine still contained in its original Makita case, so the above should cover literally all the bases. Pics to follow !!!

The Tanos stock latch color blue is Signal blue. The Sapphire (more in the Navy blue range) is much darker.  Heaven / sky blue is the  closest  to Makita but still different.

I'd say Sky Blue is close to Kreg Jig blue.

Looking forward to pics from @woodbutcherbower

Good morning !!

Pictures as promised. You'll see that neither sapphire blue or sky blue are an especially good match for the Makita colour, which is more of a teal than a blue. I have, however, placed some Makita oddments such as this RP1100C quarter-inch (a truly brilliant little machine) into anthracite systainers with sapphire blue handles and T-Locs. It works OK because the eye is kinda deceived into focusing on the black parts of the tool  [smile]

Sometimes you get lucky. The Tanos orange is a near-perfect match for my Paslode nailers, and obviously my Mirka, Mafell and Fein tools come in coloured factory boxes anyways.

I do love my coloured systainers. It makes reaching for the right machine so quick. I couldn't imagine being faced with a huge stack of grey-and-greens, having to read all of the labels to figure out what was inside. I dropped in a few pictures of my van rack-out to show you what I mean. The pictures are a coupla years old now - I accidentally bought some more equipment since then ........

Hope that helps.
Greetings from over the pond.

I don't know if it could help you in acquiring the proper green T-locs or not, but there is another company that uses the same green. See if you can find a distributor for Cadex. They make pneumatic brad nailers, 21ga and 23ga headless pinners. They come in Systainers with the Tanos logo moulded into the lid and the Cadex logo painted on the lid too. The T-loc is the same green as Festool. They might be more willing to sell them as a spare part.
