Häfele cyber incident: current status and further procedure

Dear Häfele Partner,

in the night of 02.02.23 there was a ransomware attack on the IT systems of the Häfele Group from an external source. The preventive shutdown of our system landscape is now being followed by a gradual and controlled reconstruction.

We immediately notified the state authorities about the attack. The Calw criminal investigation department is leading the investigation in close cooperation with us and our external forensic experts.

As a customer, you can currently reach your contact person on their cell phone. In the next step, we will restore nationwide accessibility. We currently expect this to be achieved by the end of this week.

Even after further intensive analysis, there are currently no indications of an outflow of customer data. As a highly precautionary measure, we have notified the data protection authority.

The following applies to all customers and / or suppliers who have an interface (VPN, FTP, EDI, B2B, API, VMI) to Häfele: We have disconnected all connections after the incident. Please do not connect via the interface at this time. We are working hard to find a secure solution and will inform you as soon as the interface is available again and will then provide you with the new access data.

We are making noticeable progress in the reconstruction of our merchandise management system and can access the necessary data. We are not yet able to give a binding date for the complete restoration.

We will keep you informed about the further progress and apologize for any inconvenience.

Gregor Riekena (Chairman of the Executive Board)
Nikolas Bransch (Sales Manager Germany)

About the attack/ method of attack? Only rumors, and since that is entirely not my field of expertise, I will refrain from spreading them publicly.

As far as ordering goes, to the best of my knowledge, existing customers can order via phone and probably fax/e-mail, the warehouse/logistics were not affected. Again, that is to the best of my knowledge.

Oliver

yep, I just checked site is still down.  I am actually waiting to place an order. Luckily Im not in a hurry so Im just waiting for the site to come back online.  This happened at my wifes company and it was a huge PITA for everyone. So, I know what they are going through.  There is so much fraud and so many scammers these days trying to steal anything and everything every second of the day its crazy.  Sometimes I just miss the days of the good ol' fashioned printed catalog, no internet, no smartphone... It's out of control and I cant even answer my phone anymore. I have to request everyone they text me only and if you call and dont leave a voicemail I wont be returning the call.

All these incoming calls are ignored:

1800, 1888 etc.
Private numbers
Unknown numbers
Numbers not on my contact list
Numbers that appear to be similar to my own number
Any out of country or out of province or out of town numbers

On average, I miss about one genuine caller a month, and I know because the caller leaves a voicemail. Families and close friends use Whatsapp to talk with me.

I'm in just about the same situation.

I almost never answer my phone.....even for those in my contacts sometimes.
Occasionally I will if I'm driving, because it's hands free, but I'm usually disappointed, because it will be some rando trying to buy my house or sell me an extended warranty.
I'm kind of an introvert, who would rather not.
I don't even have a voicemail set up on my phone, text or nothing.
My daughter is 27 years old and I have never talked to her on the phone. We are 100% text. If it needs to be a longer conversation, she's only 7 miles away.

I like the anonymity of the internet. I would much rather click and get it delivered than call someone.
What I would really like is a woodworking store that has everything that I can get from Amazon. I like to actually touch/see the things in person.
