TS 75 and TS 55 allen key holders
« on: March 14, 2022, 07:59 PM »
Curious if the TS 75 handle and motor housing are identical in size to the TS 55?

I ask because I was using a friend's TS 75 and noticed the allen key does not fit in the handle holder like on the TS 55? The metal body which houses the blade is in the way and keeps one from sliding it inside the holder. On the TS 75 it seems as though there is some kind of holder on the base plate to house the key.

Is this because the TS 75 and 55 share the same motor housing and handle, despite, the larger blade and housing of the TS 75 protruding upward? I compared the two visually and despite one saw being larger the parts look nearly identical.

Both are older models I believe. However I don't remember the exact models or years.

You could go to the Ekat catalog and compare the part numbers of course.

There is no in-handle holder for the allen key on the TS-75; it's stored in the sole plate near the front of the saw.  There IS a Fast-Fix lever that locks the trigger and stops the plunge at the correct depth to unscrew the bolt, but there's no opening under it like there is on the 55.

I didn't dig out my TS-55 to compare, but I can't imagine that the motor housings are the same; the 75 should have a bigger motor.

Must be a larger motor but remarkably the same size housing as far as I can tell. The hole for the allen key is still actually located on the TS 75 in the same location as the TS 55 but since access is blocked it does seem like the holder on the base plate is the only other option. I will add that the holder on the base plate does not allow the allen key to sit flush when attached. It is at an angle.

If all this is true then is Festool using the same housing and handle parts across both saws despite one being larger and one being more powerful? The handle(s) and trigger are definitely the same size etc.

The TS 75 definitely has more kick but when I inspected the labels on each saw I was not able to clearly tell how much more powerful the 75 is etc.

TS75 is an older design. If it has common parts, it would be with the original TS 55 (non-R) model:

You can check the Festool eKat parts catalogue if curious. The part numbers are "global" in Festool tools. If a part is re-used somewhere, it has the same part number everywhere and this can be easily seen in the parts breakdowns in eKat.
