Stuck BF-FX chuck on my CXS drill
« on: June 10, 2019, 12:33 PM »
I feel silly posting this but I have the chuck mounted on the angle attachment. No issue removing the angle attachment from the drill. However, I have tried multiple times to remove the chuck from the angle attachment but it seems stuck. I pull the release ring forwards and have tried then rotating the chuck, wondering if there is a particular point when the engaging mechanism will align and the chuck will slip free. No such luck. Am I doing something wrong? Would be grateful for some advice.
PS I love, love this drill. It's my favourite Festool product after Kapex.

Thanks, Mike Moss

I’ve had the same issue with both my TSX and CSX. I got it loose by a combination of tugging, rotating, and rocking the chuck simultaneously. Hope this works for you.

I’ve had this happen between the chuck and the cxs “nose”(?).  When I got it off, I noticed it was then difficult to put the chuck back on.  Instead of sliding on smoothly like when it was new, it seemed to bind.

I brought it to my local Festool rep, and they said a tiny burr had developed on the drill nose.  It was so small that I couldn’t see it, but I could barely feel it.  I wrapped a small piece of wet/dry sandpaper around the nose, turned the drill on for second, and it was like new again.  The sandpaper took the burr off, but didn’t even start scratching the paint.

Hope your solution is this easy!
