Wow! I usually rave about Festool, however I have to say not engineering the UG cart extensions so they work with the crown stop base extensions is a huge oversight by Festool. I won't be buying the UG cart.
Shane,
How about providing feedback to Festool engineering!
I have to say it is a bit odd that the Crown stop base extensions don't have have the same V grove on their outer limits. I have only owned the Kapex since last July and have not added extensions yet. Until the new UG came out... I don't think the lack of the V has ever been an issue.
For a product that is based in system compatibility.... this is an over site.
If you look at a recent post some people think the Kapex can not travel without damage. I have to say that saw has traveled more miles than most tools I have and it is a rock!
I do see a move from the thought process of people thinking that you will set up Festool only in a shop or as a temp shop (week or or more) on site to a day site job.... thus the UG! I like the UG alot... I have the Kapex MFT.... and really see the UG as better option for me, as I work on site all the time. Being able to roll the saw on the supporting structure that also carries the extensions at one time is huge.
Not to say the Kapex table has limited me....just easier to roll it all in with the wings on the UG.
I have to say I'm thinking of buying the UG package so I can add the wings to my Kapex when on the mft table ...the crown stops..... would be nice to have but not a deal breaker for me for most of all of my work... or just use the UG set. I do like the work height of the Kapex MFT for many things besides just putting the Kapex on it.
Cheers,
Steve
