Registering tools for warranty
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:00 AM »
HI,
I just got a whack of Festool tools, do I need to register them with Festool to engage the warranty? There's a green card "for my records" but do I need to get in touch with you?
thanks,
Foghat

Your dealer is supposed to register your tools on your behalf.

I am completing a registration form on our website that I will be announcing soon so that our customers can make sure their tools are registered.

That would be great Shane, I'd much rather handle that detail myself so I know it is done and done right.

I might get in trouble here, but Seth and I got a chance to see and try a preliminary version of what Shane is working on.  Never thought that registering something could be so cool.  That is all that I am comfortable saying.

As more Festools are finding their way into my shop the more I desire this feature, looking forward to it.

The Festool literature suggests that all one needs do is record the information called for on the green page included with each tool's operating instructions, and attach a copy of the purchase invoice, all of which goes into your own file until there is a claim to make. I see nothing suggesting or requiring registration to keep the warranty effective.

Is the soon to be rolled out online registration form intended as a convenience for owners, or a requirement for maintaining the warranty?

I am greatly enjoying my Festools and today added the hose boom kit.

Ah - I see, it's a combination tool registration and fortune telling application ... I can see a tall dark Domino XL in your future ...  [wink]

Here in the US
You don't need to register your tools for warranty purposes. the dealer should do it for you.  If your tooli isn't registered, it is still covered.  HOWEVER, you should save any proof of purchase just in case.
