Why Lebanon, Indiana?
« on: November 04, 2009, 08:14 AM »
Being originally from Indianapolis up till 5 years ago I am estatic knowing North American headquarters is in Indiana.......but it just seems really odd that the HQ is in Lebanon and not closer to Indianapolis or Plainfield where it is closer to the airport or FedEx hub

Why Lebanon and not Indianapolis????

Maybe traffic issues?

I despise the traffic in Indy.

The Indianapolis area because of nearly equal shipping times to all areas of the US.  Christian did tell us that the cost of doing business in California was extremely high and also a factor.  Additionally in the equation was quality of life for the employees.  Lebanon vs. other areas of Indy - my guesses would include maybe land costs or local government incentives?

Hello dinkjs,

Lebanon is only 25 minutes away from Indianapolis. We have everything we need here. Initially we were looking at all areas
in and around Indianapolis and found the ideal combination of things that are important to us here in Lebanon. Fedex and UPS come
here for pick-up and the airport is only 25 minutes away. Hope that answers your question.

Oh yeah, Indiana is the cross roads of America, says it right on the sign when you arrive in this state.

Who knows the state song?

State Bird?

State tree?

State Tool? [cool] [scratch chin]

I remember growing up in Cleveland, OH that there was a billboard near the airport saying that something like 75% of the population of North America lived within a 500 mile radius.

I would imagine that dynamic has changed over the years, farther South and farther West.

Neill, since Mexico is part of North America, I would say that the center of that radius is now Southern California.  [smile]
