No return on sales items
« on: May 22, 2018, 03:47 PM »
Hi everyone,

Brand new to the Festool brand (haven't even purchased my first yet).  I'm planning on buying a Midi tomorrow along with a Festool sander or a Bosch sander.  The Midi that I am buying is discounted because it is last years model (2017), it is marked down to $659.99 (Canadian prices) from $760.  They are also applying a 5% general discount if I combine it with a sander.  If I were to return either one of these within the 30 days, would I have any issue in getting my money back?  I was told no by the dealer, but could not find anything in the fine print of Festool's Return Policy.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

@416FF - This is a good one. I had to double-check it myself.

Yes, the 30-day return policy applies to any new tool — including discontinued ones — purchased from a Festool dealer.

Hi Tyler,

I tried to send you a DM regarding this but it says the user has blocked any of my messages (possible because I am a new user?).

Thanks for the reply!

Not all of the dealers seem to have the same understanding RE returns of discounted items

All tools carry Festool's Service All Inclusive Warranty. Except for Festool's Standard 30 Day Return program, all sales are final.

I found the same with Festool-Online.com sale items.

"All sales final on discontinued items".

In fairness to the OP, this exclusion does not apply to the discount on items purchased in conjunction with a tool purchase.

Which I read as 'only way to return it is through the 30 days return program' - sounds reasonable.

"All sales final on discontinued items".
That not so much (as long as it's a tool with service all included).

Personally the upgrades that the 2018 Midi comes with are worth the extra $100. You get the new style hose, and the updated hose garage with the T-Loc attachment for Systainer's. Also thought it was a 10% discount when purchasing another serial numbered tool with a Dust Extractor or MFT table? At least in the USA it is.

I won't be buying into the Systainer system, but the new hose is really nicely constructed.  Again I can't swallow the price of their AS or even non AS hoses, I'll be going aftermarket for them.  Vacuum works great, just as expected, the ETS 125 REQ is going to be packed up tonight and returned, definitely can't justify the cost with it's performance compared to a regular ROS.  I'm not sure on the extra 10% as opposed to 5% but  now that you mention it I have seen that number floating about.  Thanks everyone for your help on this issue!

Big mistake. The  ETS 125 REQ is my most used and favorite sander. It's a beast in terms of durability. I've owned mine for at least 7 years and still use it every single day as a painting contractor. I use it for sanding drywall compound on walls and to sand doors/trim. It's hooked up to a ct26. The only thing I've changed on it is the pad. The finish is flawless and it is comfortable to use for hours at a time. Take it from a pro who knows sanders. I know the  ETS 125 REQ better than anyone on earth.

After using it for a few more days I've grown to like the sander quite a bit more, I've got 30 days so we'll see how it holds up over the next few weeks and then I'll make my decision.  Now...what rotex to get  :-\

Thanks for the help!

Regarding my Rotex 150 I'm with the NRA: from my cold, dead hands.

Apart from that: In case all other of your sanders are 125mm I would suggest you go for the Rotex 125, to not having to deal with two sizes of abrasive.

Or get the Rotex 150 and convert your existing sanders to 150mm pads when your stockpile of paper for them runs out.

The rotex 90 is also an interesting choice because of the Delta head that makes it capable of sanding with two different shapes of sandpaper, round and triangular.
