Is the pope catholic?

I don't know when your regular "price adjustments" typically hit, but my jaded opinion is that there's no obvious market pressure to drop prices ... so we'll probably see the typical bumping of RRP across that range of tools, accessories and consumables [sad]

Prices have already gone up here in the UK since the pound devalued after Brexit  [sad]

On the other hand, it's a great time for anyone outside the UK to buy British made tools as they're cheaper now  [thumbs up]
For you guys anyway.

My information here in the UK is there will not be a change to 'List' prices in the new year. However there are changes being made which will mean dealers like ourselves should be able to decrease their prices a little. It hasn't all been confirmed as yet, but if I were betting man (which I'm not, it's for fun or for losers), then I'd wait until the new year before buying any big ticket Festool items.

Just my opinion though.

That's good to hear if it's correct, but I'm at a loss to know how that's possible given the increased cost of sourcing German goods due to the fall in the pound  [scratch chin]

Perhaps the measures you refer to are aimed more at leveling the playing field for smaller dealers.  Certainly there are a couple of well known big retailers who sell Festool at significantly lower prices than everyone else.  That can't be too healthy for Festool if they want to retain a broad dealer network to service and promote the brand at a grass roots level.

I was a little surprised as all of our other suppliers, with European or Far Eastern product for sale have notified us of a price increase due to £/Euro or £/$ issues. So if there is no increase from Festool it should make them more competitive in the market place.

The current situation with a few dominant dealers is not healthy in my opinion, I can't speak for Festool, but I would imagine they might think the same. The playing field is level, the same for all dealers, however not all dealers have the money to compete. Or more likely, they look at the return on investment and can't be bothered?

Traditionally, price increases have been in April 1st in the U.S. and Canada. However, I think last year Canada's was on 1/1, which was likely tied to currency fluctuations. Not sure about other countries.

As the US Dollar has appreciated against the Euro, should we not be looking at a price decrease in the US??

Not wishing to get political here, but I'd say there's a reasonable chance the $US will be going down again.  Maybe Festool have the same thought  [bite tongue]

There's also a reasonable chance the U.S. $ will go up vs. the € and £ too.

That's nature of currency markets, they're always moving.  Speculation from the peanut gallery is kinda pointless since even the arbitrage guys don't get it right all the time.

Given the way things are going in France, Italy, Greece, and elsewhere in Europe, the US$ is just as likely to go up in relation to the € as down. I'm not sure where the US$ will go in relation to the ¥, or Kiwi and Kangaroo $.

2ooladdict, Festool has rarely ever decreased prices, with the exeption of items that have been discontinued. There have been some exceptions though.

You guys illustrate my point  [smile]

What I'm saying is, things are kind of up in the air right now.  Anything could happen, and I get the impression business is  holding off as long as possible to see which way it goes in these uncertain times.

I think it is a big deal when Festool does not change a price, year over year.

Hi Warren,
From what I can glean anyway, it appears that Festool would prefer Dealerships to fully engage in in the full offering from Festool with the Service all inclusive package.
Some on-line traders don't really offer this with no tool registration and are more intent on moving boxes. So I think the registration requirement may eventually start levelling the playing field for guys like us  [blink]

Hi Gerry

I imagine as a new dealer you have an advantage for a while anyway ( ;)), and the new scheme for next year is great, but if there are crazy dealers out there now, I can't see them changing their ways for next year, their mantra seems to be  'we must be the cheapest (even if we lose money)', only time will tell.  [smile]

Best regards
