Think about 795.

Less than the new one I got last week. [unsure]

This post must have been delayed by Tapatalk quite a bit; the RO 125 was (one of) the first item(s) up this morning.  A 1440 and 2200 were in the mix as well, along with a Trion barrel grip and a LS130 Linear Sander (all posted separately, not as packages).

So are all the tools listed in 'One and Done' still to come up today?  I'm not sure what that page represents.

I get Festool US not wanting to promote recon sales outside of the US, but timing the sales to where anyone on the west coast would have to be up insanely early is not cool at all.

The list usually ends with "Wow, that went fast!!!"  I don't know what it means when there are tools listed after that; perhaps that's tomorrow's listing and that's how they throw a bone to the West Coasters?

Did anyone else here snag a mfk700 this morning? I saw it pop up and ordered immediately. When I checked back the main page it moved to the next tool. Wondering if I got a true “one and done”, or if there were others in stock and other happy new owners.

This one was discounted 31% off of regular price, whereas the typical discount is 25%. I know there are some tools like the planex that are regularly discounted 30%-35%, since we presume they are more highly returned. I didn’t think the 700 would fit into that category. Hoping the 700 is not in rough shape when it gets here!

Just received the DTS 400 REQ I ordered last week.

Plugged it in to test it and the electronics are all messed up. It spools up to speed then dies and spins at an extremely low rpm that can’t be fixed with the speed control. First time I’ve had an issue with a recon tool.

That and it’s in a systainer 3 which I specifically tried to avoid. There were two different models of this sander last week- one had a picture of a systainer 3 and was $210, the other just a picture of the sander for $202, which I presumed was cheaper because it came in a t loc. Not sure what the difference was then

One may have been an EQ instead of REQ, or some other oddity (different included sets or something).  My T-Loc/Sys3 inclusion has been really hit-and-miss on Recon.

If you give FUSA a call, they should make it right.  They're pretty responsive to the web form on the Recon site as well, from my experience.

That’s what I think too. Even if you wake up supper early, they might just post a single unpopular tool for the day and that’s all.

When they had the big sales going, they would post them at 7 or 8am pacific time, so everyone has a chance to get something. Even 6am would be fine..

I think it drives people more nuts that all the desirable stuff is put up in the morning, so folks have no chance, verses it being later in the list.  Obviously from festool stand point, they just want to get rid of tools, so moving the easy to get rid of stuff (routers, dominos) in the morning means the staff can process that and get them out the door, and let the stuff no one wants sit for the rest of the day.  Today was a bit of an odd day with something that hung it all up being posted early with other tools to come (if the one in done is to be trusted).

Clearly, when stuff like routers are gone in 30 seconds, it's not like many folks had a chance, I think folks just like the idea that they might have been awake during their chance.  I won't even say it's a west coast issue.  Anything before 9AM est is going to be too early for most folks.

But again, Festool's focus is clearing out tools, which they do well, unless it's a mixer, planex, jigsaw, ct36/48, or one of the un-cool drills.

It's not the perfect solution that's for sure...but I'd say it's 50X better than the original method which was going through Festool dealers. That was absolutely HORRIBLE for the customers and dealers alike.  [crying] [crying] [crying]

You know you have a Recon problem when your alarm goes off in the morning and you check the Recon site on your phone before even moving from the bedside to start showering and getting ready for the day; I used to wait until I was at least out of the shower and starting to make my eggs before I'd check...

I'm glad I'm mostly done reconning for the time being.

So how/what did festool do before the recon site?  Trash them?  What do they do outside of the US?

Looks like they heard the “west coast whining”  [big grin] yesterday. A fair number of tools on the queue for today but they didn’t start at their usual 6 or 7 am eastern/central time. Festool is watching!

There are others with direct experience, and some of those experiences are posted in threads on here, but my understanding is that there was a certain time of year or time of the quarter when reconditioned tools were sold locally through dealers.

In my head, I imagine it to be like all of the worst parts of Black Friday Doorbusters that you've seen on the news, occasionally without more than one or two tools total to sell per dealer.  But that's my mental version based on things I've read; I didn't stumble upon Festool until after that, and even then I only had a single sander and dust collector because that's all I needed at the time for my project.

I've noticed as well.  It'll be an interesting day. :)

That's a great way to explain it...the worst parts of Black Friday.  [big grin]

It was usually announced on a weekend or close to a weekend when some of the local brick & mortars were closed. Also, not all Festool retailers were willing to be part of the recon sale so it could be hit or miss. When the list of sales items came out it gave part numbers, rated them by condition and then they were assigned a price.
So imagine some customer that was willing to buy any DF 500 available while some other customer was only willing to purchase the cheapest of the DF 500's available and the retailer was supposed to manage this situation in real-time.

Customer talks to dealer.....dealer talks to Festool.....dealer then talks to customer.....dealer then talks with Festool to place order if the item is still available. If I remember correctly, the order also couldn't be placed with Festool via the internet, it had to be placed with a phone call.

This process would then play out for days as the various dealers were trying to get through to Festool to inquire about and place orders. I remember Bob Marino mentioning that he received something like 1400 phone calls & emails over a weekend.

Circular saw TS 55 REQ-F-Plus USA just posted.

Indeed; The Hunger Games have begun!

Once we get to the Planex, you know the fun is over (anyone else not surprised that's the final tool of the day? ;))

If someone from Festool US was listening to us West coast folks, I'd like to say THANK YOU! While there wasn't anything on the list I wanted/needed today, I sure appreciate having the chance.

Yup that's the reason I chimed in.  [smile]  With the original method it didn't matter what time zone you were in, it was a total junk shoot.

I remember I once received 2 of the same item. I'd originally ordered from Woodcraft but didn't get a response so I then ordered the same item from a different dealer. Come Wednesday the MFK 700 arrived...come Thursday the MFK 700 arrived.  [eek]
