I got my long awaited MFK 700 today.  It came with a crack in the systainer, Black interior shell, torn up cardboard tool imagery, and one stripped screw hole for the feeler bearing.

I’ll get to test that actual router next week ... assuming it works the next 3 years, I’d say the discount was worth it.  :)

So anyone have any idea why they kill peoples sessions when they have stuff in cart? I get closing the front page, but wouldn't you want folks to complete their orders?  I wasn't expecting anything on the weekend, I go away from a computer for just a little bit and this pops up. Thanks for the heads up to those who spotted it, just a couple more minutes and would have been ok.

Because more than one person is trying to buy the same tool(s). So it is still in stock until the purchase is completed. Otherwise people would put stuff in their cart just to think about it and make sure they have "claimed" it even if they don't really want it or don't end up buying it.

I can see that, to a point.  If someone dumps it from their cart though, it will be back for the next round.  Still, without a countdown or some such, a person who just went for one thing, but got in there near the end will get caught out. I was assuming everyone can put the same thing in their cart, and it's not lockdown to that person till they transaction completes.

Oh well.

My MFK 700 and DF 500 both had badly damaged lid inserts which was pretty upsetting. My DF 500 did’t even come with a manual. I’m waiting on a Carvex and a sander next week before I call to see if I can order new ones. I have a lot of testing to do as well on everything I picked up. I’m a little sad to say that my DF500 doesn’t look like it went through any QC as it still had material in the systainer from the original dealer.

My systainer was latched but the top was twisted and not seated correctly which I assume led to the crack. In fact, it was hard to twist the latch open.

I’m happy the tools weren’t damaged, besides a screw hole which I can fix, but it is disappointing considering I returned several DF500 which were returned in pristine condition.  As far as the damaged top imagery, I suspect this is from UPS/FedEx turning the package upside down as I don’t see them shipping with “this side up” labeling.

Thanks to @GoingMyWay for the timely heads up today. Looks like we are down to four pages now. No more routers. Lots of drills and sanders plus other assorted goodies.

On recon site the Additional Item area shows 76 items still up (75+their $.01 item) with ten pages.  Still a lot of saws (and drills).  Where are you seeing 4 pages?

On the very first screen it has a place to hit “see all” when you do that it shows more items on the page. There had been five pages for the last few days but by the end of today it was only four. Still the same amount of total items that you are seeing. I’m just looking at a different page view. Oh, and yes you are correct, there are still quite a few different iterations of their saws.

Festool shipped my recon purchase to my old address [censored]

When I called and asked why they said it was the address on file for my initial account creation years ago, no apology. I used the correct address for checkout. When I go to my order information it lists my current address. Waiting to hear how they're going to fix it.

They're taking care of it and I believe my address has been corrected in their system. Just a heads up if you registered to Recon at a different address it might be worth the call to update your address. I can just imagine a Kapex showing up at someones house and the hassle it'd cause to retrieve it.

Thanks for the updates GoingMyWay.  I checked it a little after 10, decided it was a no go, and went out to chip the ice off of my driveway, so I missed it.  I have already bought enough, but just wanted  you to know I appreciate the updates.

No problem at all!  I'm happy I'm able to contribute something else to the forum besides just pictures of food  ;D since I haven't been doing much woodworking lately.

I think the funniest thing is that I'm more excited to post when the tools go live than the fact that tools are actually available for purchase.  I haven't even really looked through the offerings or thought about purchasing anything, which is probably a good thing considering I don't really need any more tools.  Though I did see the 2019 model Kapex this morning...

I've noticed that the variety of tools have changed over the last week. No more DF's, no Vac Sys, no Shinex, no MiDI and I don't recall ever seeing an MFT of any kind. Surprised though that the RS 2 and RAS 115 show up at every session, especially considering they're discontinued and then there's always the LEX 3, that seems to have been given a permanent position in the sale. [smile]

Also noticed that the sale duration has stretched out a bit. From the original 12-16 minutes to just over 30 minutes.

Was the ETS EC 150 ever there?  That's the one I really wanted.  I ended up getting a couple of other tools I probably don't need but couldn't resist.

Now that you mention it, I never saw either an ETS EC 150 or an ETS EC 125 for sale. By the way, the ETS EC 125 will allow you to use your existing DTSC paper while also being capable of being upsized to 150 mm.

Yeah, stuff you can't just go buy would be stuff I would expect to move.   I missed the early days of it, and would have picked up some things that I later saw were there.  There are things that if cheap enough, I'll grab.   I tend to wonder where some of this come from, as some items are like you say discontinued, or things they haven't sold in years, so they can't be 30 day return stuff.   I look at it as stuff that in theory I could be used elsewhere, but at least with this, I know it's not a Con, and I have good faith it will come in good shape.  I've bought a couple items over time from recon without issue.

I still say you see how people feel about the tools, some items may be just because they are big sellers, thus have a lot of returns, like the endless supply of TS55's.  Or they might be that people don't see the value in buying them from recon.   If I was running festool, I might be rather concerned that the battery tools just don't sell.  Even if the number of them is a sign that sales are high and thus many come back on return, that's a lot of tools coming back on return.

Some items I get why they are there. Like I keep going "oh, maybe I should buy a vecturo". but then I realize I don't want a festool battery tool, and a corded Vecturo would be a pain. So I pass.  I'm guessing a lot of folks in the same boat.  I think about it every time it goes live, then decide even if my Milwaukee dies, I can buy 3-4 more of them for the price of the festool.  Same general process for a lot of the tools, sounds great for a moment, then go "nah"

I wouldn't dismiss the cordless Vecturo. No other OMT (other than Fein, obviously) has all the features of it when coupled with the accessories. It's expensive for sure, no argument there.

So yes, that is part of why it even comes up.  But I don't want a festool battery.  If I had a reason to go all in on Festool battery stuff, it would be different, but since I don't, ending up with one random tool, that is the issue.  Also I use the multi-tool when nothing else fits, so it physically gets abused and smashed.

The stand and such is what makes it in part interesting.

Just out of curiosity, I noticed that most Recon items are 25% off, but the DWC18-4500L-plus SCA US cordless drywall screw gun was 50% off (list $570 for $285).  (sorry-sold out)  This was model 574888 with the Better SCA-8 charger and two 5.2 BT batteries.  Just wondering.

Those batteries are not BT. Not sure why they are half price though.  I bought two for that reason.  Cheap way to get batteries and charger.

I noticed number of items on Recon Products listing increased.  Looks like the 1010 Router, Midi, and a Syslite were added, not for sure what else.

Yeah,  BiDirection UPS trucks.  I think they are getting to where the inflow and outflow are getting pretty even.

You are right, it is not supposed to have Bluetooth batteries.  However, the one I received had two Bluetooth batteries in it.  Win-win.

Sorry-I butchered the last entry.  As stated, the batteries should not be Bluetooth, but that is what Festool sent me.  So I am happy.

Same here- both times I’ve ordered a cordless recon tool (TSC 55 and Carvex) the model numbers indicate the tool originally would not have included a Bluetooth battery but Bluetooth batteries were included with the tool (two 5.2’s for both tools). The TSC actually had a sticker on it that said “new battery”, but the carvex did not, but was purchased during the current wide offering so they may not have taken the time to do stickers.

In addition to the new BT batteries, I have also received the new SCA chargers, two in the TSC 55 and one for the. carvex. When you factor in two new batteries and new chargers, the discount price is really nice.

These recon tools were a great way to get my battery collection to a strong point where I can easily purchase basic tool models going forward and be ok on batteries.

The TSC 55 that I ordered last month didn't come with Bluetooth batteries.  I wasn't expecting that they would be Bluetooth, but I was kinda hoping they might be so I was a little disappointed to find they weren't (especially hearing about posts like yours where they did get Bluetooth batteries).  I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

I bought a basic TSC 55 in early January when only one item at a time would pop up.  I bought a basis because I was afraid of old batteries.  I was surprised that the build date on the tool was early 2016, so glad I did not order with batteries.  Now I am wondering if I would have received bluetooths.

They probably got hammered by the weather.  I was supposed to receive an UPS package on Saturday, and am still waiting for delivery.  There was a lot of ice in this part of the country last Monday, still a lot of ice on secondary roads.
