The only way I know is, once the sale is on, pull up the current offer and look at the model #, then see if that is a current model. Like you have time to do that.

I learned the hard way. I bought a midi then after I received it I realized it was an older model that did not have the Bluetooth module. No one to blame except myself. That was in December when only one item would pop up, sometimes for less than five minutes. So now if I am interested in something, I already have the current model # written down to cross-reference. Some of this is old stuff. I bought a 55 TSC saw in December and it was manufactured in 2016. Luckily, I bought the basic so did not have to worry about old batteries.

Another way to check after the fact is to see if the listed price is the same as the current price. I think TSC saws increased slightly in price last summer when they changed to Bluetooth. So if the price you paid is 75% of current price, you MIGHT be ok, If it is not, you KNOW you are not getting Bluetooth. If you get Bluetooth, consider it a blessing.

Nobody knew whether there would even be a Recon sale this year, or if there will be next year, although they seam to happen every year, and so nobody knows what inventory is available.

I was hoping the were still reconditioning tools and I’d see another Vac Sys but since they’re advertising everything at once rather than individually it seems they’re at the end of the sale and are flushing the final inventory.

gahh. I keep missing it, I figured it they were trying to be a bit consistent on the window, so was all ready for 10am-ish. Went when i thought it was early, just to be at the final moments, some things that might have been there were gone.

Looks like through the course of it they had things I have been wanting, but obviously they are things that many want (metric versions) so they go away quick. It's crazy to be playing this game, just to have the chance to buy a tool that I'd have no issue paying full price for (new) if they would just sell them again.

It would definitely help if Festool had an easy to find cross reference for PNs. On tools you don't know if they are inch or metric, and they don't clearly state. I don't even know what all tools ever got changed (there is no easy way to know). So then you try to search for the SK, and you get links to retailers, but when it loads up, it's a different number. They drive folks to their page, just to switch out the number with a newer SK. That doesn't help anything.

I hear ya...they've had 3 different MIDI and MINI versions so you have to be careful or you may be purchasing a version you already own.

The metric vs imperial thing is something else altogether, that's so fraught with issues and problems.

I'll find out what version of the 2200 I purchased when it shows up today, hope it's metric although it doesn't matter too much as I'm putting it in a CMS.

On my lap top I just keep a window open and refresh it every so often, so I was also surprised when the sale came up this morning.

The weird thing I did notice this morning is I clicked on the MINI, a Shinex 14, a Shinex 21 and an AGC grinder, all were still available. I then paged 1 page back to the MINI, clicked on it, it was still available. I then proceeded to the Shinex 14...gone, Shinex 21....gone, AGC...gone, then back to the MINI...gone. This whole exercise took maybe 25-30 seconds.

I just wonder what the trigger is? Is it based on a percentage of SOLD products? Or maybe when a certain percentage of products are just placed in a cart.

If that's the case then it gets real tricky as you're no longer going against sold product but a percentage of presumed sold product...that would definitely shorten the purchasing window.

@Cheese it seems like it's either a 15min or 30min window looking through the posts. I imagine someone is manually doing the start/stop.

There's been some really solid offerings this time around. The OF1010 for $360~ in particular. The TID 18 and T18 Easy for cheap batteries (compared to what they cost retail).

This may be an unpopular opinion but I don't see how the scale on a router matters. If you're routing to drop something specific in I take that something and drop it between the depth stop rod and the stops. Or any number of setup blocks I have in the shop. I have lots of dominos in different thicknesses for that.

There also tends to be a posting around 4 PM EST. However, considering they changed the posting of the morning sale, I think I would start checking early and often. By 4 PM it may be history.

Like all the tools, you might never use the markings on the tool, that's not the point really. The point is they shouldn't have inches on them. The tools are metric in design, folks work in metric, there is no reason for the inch markings. Folks very well do use them too, and just want mm on the tools. A lot of it is principle of it all. If the tools had no markings on them, then things wouldn't matter. But if they have markings, they need to be correct.

It's the same reason that I'm not going to buy an inch labeled tool and trying modifying it. That's just dumb, and it's still "inch" far as the part number of the tool matters. Every time someone buys an inch based tool, even though they want metric, it's just sending Festool the message that the person wanted an inch based tool.

I can't think of any instance of a company having a product and selling it someplace, then deciding not to sell it anymore, while still making it elsewhere, and even selling an almost identical product. Only some sort of legislative ban on something can cause that. They could have just kept selling the metric versions along with the inch versions, let folks decide what they want. It would have avoided the whole mess, plus would have let them really see the market. They sell the parallel guides in both inch and metric, do the same on the other parts. People bought their tools in metric for years, now they are left high and dry without options....well Mafell. Now folks have to hunt used tools just to support doing something that would be a non issue anyplace else. Any other company would just sell both versions. Festool has all the parts, the tools are are certified for the US market, etc. It's just part swaps. They are leaving money on the table and causing folks to look elsewhere for tools. Some folks don't care about this, fine. But the important part is understanding this matters a lot to other folks.

I get that this is related to the recon tools that may or may not be available in metric or inch versions. So if people have part number info and such that IDs the versions or helps someone know what version they are looking to buy ........ OK. But this is the recon topic where people are popping in to find the latest info on recon tool sales. Lets not turn it into another metric vs imperial debate topic.

I received my T18+3 Compact in a TLOC Sys 2 so I'm pretty pleased. I picked it up to replace my aging T15+3. Only downsides is no attic lid on the new one so I might pick up an attic lid TLOC Sys 2 and swap it out. I like the lid.

Yes, it's been a very frustrating experience. I also got up early and nothing is on sale today.
Why can't Festool announce a sale at a specific time and make all items available instead of adding a tiny subset once or twice a day on an unknown schedule that lasts as few as 7 minutes.

True, we must suffer for a 25% discount!

I already received my T18+3E less than 48 hours after ordering! Shipping speed is incredible, even considering they had to ship from Indiana to Illinois. They forgot to vacuum the systainer, it still had some walnut dust under the insert.

I wasn't expecting anything on the weekend, I go away from a computer for just a little bit and this pops up. There isn't much I really need (or can afford) right now, but I snagged a Surface Control Light STL 450. I guess I was lucky since by chance I refreshed the page and the sale was up. I must have hit it early because I looked around for a while before and after buying.
