Festool Recon Topic (compiled)
« on: June 25, 2020, 03:42 PM »
Kind of a random question - but I've noticed that there haven't been many tools posted on the Festool Recon site over the past few months.  Is that more a byproduct of COVID or is Festool phasing out that particular site going forward?

Been wondering the same thing myself.

I'm guessing that they burned through most of their stock during Black Friday/Christmas etc. At one point they were popping one right after another all day long. Good chance that inventory was low about the same time as all this craziness hit, and that with dealers that sell mostly through retail being closed that they are fine with letting the stuff pile up for a while.

Could even envision a skeleton staff there concentrating on customer repairs instead of recon tools.

We will be bringing the Recon tools back. Currently, we are at minimal staff and working hard to keep our Warehouse team safe and healthy. And to your point, we're focusing on shipping new products and service to keep our Dealers stocked and craftsman working.

Reconditioned Tool Notification?
« Reply #3 on: October 28, 2020, 05:09 PM »
Is there a way to be notified when Festool begins selling their reconditioned tools?  I don't even get notifications from this site, so I may be dreaming.

Are you already registered on festoolrecon.com?  Notifications should be sent out when a new tool is posted, but there is definitely a delay between the time the tool is posted and when the email notification is sent/received.

I'm always in front of my computer for work Monday - Friday so I use the Check4Change Firefox browser Add-on to check festoolrecon.com for any changes.  I don't believe any new tool has been offered on festoolrecon.com since March.

I kept trying to register, however at the end, it keeps saying "Oops...something went wrong."

Have you tried to register recently? It was broken for a while but I believe that it is better now.

I've been registered at the recon site for a few years now and have bought several items. However, from the end of March and through April all I go were four notifications whose subject line was "Reconditioned Wow, that went fast!!! now available!". In other words, the item was gone before the emails went out. You'd think they could stop the mails from going out if the item is already sold.

Since April 30th I have not gotten any (none, zilch) emails from the recon site. My login is still active.

I bought a TS55 from the recon site in the spring and it was purely by luck. I happened to look at the site and the track saw was for sale. I had not yet gotten an email for it. I've had no luck with responding to any emails, by the time I clicked the link, the tool was always gone, with the exception of the Vecturo, which was available a lot earlier this year.

I think that the issue is that they only have one of whatever it is that is up for sale. When its gone, its gone. If they have several thousand emails to send, by the time those of us who are at the end of the list get the email, it is too late.

I've heard Sedge allude during Festool Live that they were going to be doing something with the recon site in the near future, which I interpreted to mean something for Black Friday.

Wow...back a few years, there was always a list of items to be sold, in all % off categories.  It sure was nice.  What happened to that?

What Happened to Festool Recon?
« Reply #12 on: November 24, 2020, 06:17 PM »
I am wondering what happened to Festool Recon? Seems like there hasn't been tools on there in ages. I can't even remember the last time I got an email about it. Possibly last year. Am I just not getting the emails or are there just not any tools ever being posted on there anymore?

Haven't seen anything since early this year, about the time that covid hit. They made such a huge push last winter I'm guessing that inventory was way down, and then it wasn't prudent to have staff in the facility reconditioning and shipping any more than they have to (they still have to do service and warranty work which is a priority). Also - much of what they sell are dealer returns, and dealers were closed down too, so less volume. When things become more normal they'll probably have a big push again.

Seem to remember them putting something out right after COVID hit about focusing on maintaining minimal staff with the ability to process repairs and new orders.  Was kind of hoping they'd do the Black Friday things again this year but I guess it's not to be.

Oh well, here's to 2021!!!

I considered buying this, but the description does not say the hoses and oblong head are included. Since it is not advertised as the 203149 I'll guess it was just a group of VAC SYS components.

A few years back I picked up mine at the factory as a recon and it was also basically new.  So were all the other recon tools I've purchased over the last few years.

I’ve been looking to pickup the Vac-Sys and was going to get the 1 head unit, so I figured this 2 head unit for slightly more but only a 1 year vs 3 year warranty was worth it.

Order placed....Thanks!

Did anyone get an email?  I did not.
No I didn’t either Joe even though I’ve received them for the last 2-3 years.

Maybe there’s a new sign-up that’s needed.

I wonder if there's not much inventory to go around so they're just quietly (not sending emails) posting items for sale that people may randomly stumble upon.

They’ve only recently been putting items up in the last week with a few one offs a few weeks before that.

I ordered the dust extractor from Festool Recon and needed to contact them about a missing item.  I am not tech savoy-I would rather hit something with a hammer than push a button.  I am not able to leave a comment, I keep getting this message:

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get around this?
By the way, just received my 12 lb sledge from Acme tool today so I have the hammer portion covered, just not good at the button pushing.

@Ron B

You probably don’t want to hear this, but the best thing to do is call the phone number. I had to contact them about a missing filter bag for a CT-Sys I bought from the Recon site and a 5 min phone call got me a full box of new bags at my door in 2 days.

Anyone watch the last Festool Live about sys gen 3? If I'm not mistaken Festool Recon was mentioned. Possibly making a return? I don't think I have received any of the emails since before 2020. I think I may need to resubscribe or something. Maybe they have mentioned more about offering tools on recon site again. The site shows a ©2021 date on the bottom which would indicate it has at least been updated/renewed for 2021.

I ended up bookmarking the Recon site b/c the emails aren't coming through.   They've been doing a lot more tools the past few weeks - last week they had the Conturo, Domino, OF1400, Kapex and a few sanders IIRC so it's back up and running.

My biggest complaint with not receiving the emails is many times products come and go very quickly. Sometimes within minutes or even gone before you can load the website.
