Anyone know if they post the same thing till it sells, or do they change it after some amount of time.  I never followed the recon durning normal operation to know.  Would be a bummer to be stuck on a tool no one wants for weeks.

The last time they did single items, about 2-3 weeks ago, they were stuck on Kapex for 2 days and before that they were stuck on Planex for 3 days.  [crying]

Let's hope a LEX3 doesn't come up.  I would think they would move a tool off the block at some point, but it's probably related to the pile size in the warehouse.

if they had a big pile, it would be nice if maybe they had two slots: one for the big pile and one for smaller inventory items that would cycle through pretty quickly.

Every day when I see a new post on this thread, I go and look at the Recon site.   I have never seen a tool for sale there, always sold out.

I am thinking I am in the wrong time zone or something :-)

It seems like the bird with the best knack for Internet change snooping and the most free time gets the reconditioned Festool products.  Which is a darn shame.

There's other ways, too, but some of them are mostly just logging in regularly, setting up change alerts through plugins or website services, or dumb luck.

Depending on what you're looking for, it may or may not even be something that ever gets listed.

And depending on how badly you need it, you may be spending more time (and time = $$$) frantically refreshing than you would end up saving in the long run.

But I know what you mean.  After much frustration, I finally snagged an HK 55 last week and it arrived Monday.

Do we register re-conditioned tools?

I've enjoyed the spontaneous, hit or miss nature of this year's sale. That they went from single tools released sporadically, to a sale page posted seemingly at whim, and now back to singles posted until they're sold. If nothing else, it's kept us on our toes.

Do we register re-conditioned tools?

Per the recon site's FAQ:

Do reconditioned tools include a warranty?
Festool offers a one year warranty for all reconditioned tools sold on festoolrecon.com. In order to obtain a one-year warranty, no tool registration is required.

However, some time ago, I registered a TS55 I bought through the recon site (purchased in 2018), and it is listed in "My Tools" with whatever would be left of a 3 year warranty from the date of purchase.  I don't expect that warranty is valid (and I would never try to claim on it), but it did put it on my list.  I haven't tried with my more recent recon purchases - I suppose it's possible that for more recent purchases, they have a cross check system in place that would either stop you or display the correct warranty info.

So, you definitely don't have to register it. But if you're a completist that wants to see all of your tools on your warranty list, you might be able to get it on there (with incorrect warranty information).

Thanks Doc!

Edit: I went the 'completist' route, and as you said, the warranty end date isn't correct. But my list is complete!

Your DF 700 looks to be in good condition.

I got a DF 500 from the recon site about a week ago, and it looks awfully close to new.  If not, almost everything but the motor must have been replaced.  The dust port and the plug-it connection look brand new, I couldn't find really any wear on the black plastic body, and the baseplate still had the peel-off protective film on it.  The accessories and plug-it cord also look new.  It was manufactured in 12/2019. The systainer only had a couple of minor scuffs.

I got a sander about the same time.  It was manufactured in 2016, and while not nearly as pristine as the Domino, it had been reconditioned well, and the pad is clearly new.

They seem to be doing a really nice job with the recon tools right now, even if the recon site itself is somewhat schizophrenic.

I don’t know that his will really help anyone, but here’s another observation about how the site is currently working compared to the blitz style they had in the past weeks. During the blitz postings the Festoolrecon.com/collections/all page would fade out any products that were out of stock and it was a way to tell what products would be available once the site went back live. Right now, the “collections/all” page fades everything out except for the one product that is live on the site currently. Right now it’s the PDC that is live and the only product not faded is the PDC.

Takeaway is the “collections/all” page is helpful to understand the population of tools that may become live on the recon site randomly each day, but we no longer have any certainty of if or when tools will be posted or in stock.

An even more "refined view" is with https://www.festoolrecon.com/collections/oneanddone.  The tools that popped up today were listed here.  They surprisingly added the RTS 400 at the last minute as that wasn't listed earlier in the day.

Thanks for this info.  I needed a Midi with bluetooth and by your method saw it was being listed today and was able to nab it.

I have received my HKC Kit from the last day of the big sale. It’s actually brand new with 5.2 bluetooth batteries and SCA charger. I’m not sure what’s reconditioned about it, not a single scratch on any of the things included.

At $50 off it is not worth the savings when traded for the warranty.

I saw it on recon, put it in my cart and decided it wasn’t worth it, had it been 25% I would have took the chance.

I called my dealer, bought a new one and it’s sitting under my Kapex now. It’s dedicated.

I have just bought one and it still up, so I guess they have more than one for sale.

Just a heads up in case you are planning on immediately using the MINI -- I bought a MIDI last week in the big sale and was disappointed to find that there was no bag included in the box or in the vacuum.  I had ordered some bags online (backordered) and was able to find some locally a few days later.

This is obviously an oversight and a quick call to Festool would have remedied it. I determined my Kapex saw blade was too worn to cut without burning and no questions asked. In the process of sending me one but have yet to receive.

Yes it is the new one, you can tell because the MitreFast Angle Transfer tool no longer resides on the front of the base.

TS 55 REQ-F Track Saw just posted at 10:54AM EST.

Interesting that it comes with a Systainer3.

I wonder if that speaks to the newness of the tool or if they just put an old tool in a new Systainer.

In any event, I would have to think it minimizes your chances of getting a beat up Systainer.
