Explanation of Various VAC SYS Sets and Components
« on: November 28, 2019, 12:17 PM »
It is hard from the Festool website to discern what is included with the Set versus the individual pieces.

203149 VAC SYS System Set ($1375):
-201064 -> Pump
-201065 -> SE1 (Pedal, Hose, Base with Round Pad)
-580062 -> SE2 (Hose, Base with Oblong Pad)

203148 VAC SYS System ($990):
-201064 Pump
-201065 -> SE1(Pedal, Hose, Base with Round Pad)

It looks to me like you could buy the 203148 VAC SYS System for $990 and then later add the SE2 and have the same components as the 203149 VAC SYS System Set ($1375)

Questions:
Does purchasing 201064 (Pump) + 201065 (SE1) + 580062 (SE2) (Hose, Base with Oblong Pad) include the same items as are in the VAC SYS System (203149)?

Does purchasing 201064 (Pump) + 201065 (SE1) include the same items as are in the VAC SYS System (203148)?

I am going to buy one of the sets, but don't want to find out that I missed out on something that was included in the larger set.

Jim,

You're over complicating this. Get the 990 dollar set, or get it in the recon site much cheaper as part of black Friday, then decide if you want the SE2 (second head and fittings) later.

You're welcome to come play with mine if you want.

just making sure the sets don’t differ by more than SE2.

Afaik you are correct. You can add the SE2 later and end up with the same kit. Hopefully someone else will confirm.

I built a nice cart for mine. It improved the utility for me greatly.

Im prty sure you can get the second head separately , ya also might want to get the kit with the different pads. I found them helpful with thinner stock.

I found the single head is plenty but when I make larger things like a dining table top, I needed 2 heads to really secure the top good for sanding, maybe its my technique leaning on the table a bit while sanding.

But you will really like this to me its a game changer

Another tip. .came from Sedge. If you want to save some money on the accessory heads you can make a panel large enough to clamp onto the big round head that comes with the Vac Sys. Drill a hole in the middle of it then use adhesive weather stripping to make any size clamping head you need.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FQ5A5RM/?coliid=I1RG8WT1EYB8ZU&colid=2YMHS1GEM01B9&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I was close pulling the trigger on the set on the Festool Recon site. The savings is less than 20% which is not enough to give up the warranty and possibility of returning since I can’t try one out anywhere near me. Just going to buy new.

I paid full price for the Vac Sys set with 2 heads about 6 months before the price permanently dropped - still worth it, I use it for pretty much every build in my shop :)

I first bought the single head vac sys. After a few weeks I bought the SE2 head. By getting the two heads from the set you save about 50-70$

What ever you decided to do if you get the set (2 heads) or get the SE1 then the SE2 you will end up with the same components. Exactly the same configuration.

Thanks Mario. I was only interested in knowing if I bought the refurb which did not include the SE2. After thinking about it I am going just buy the set as losing the warranty is not worth taking a chance for a few dollars.
